Big Lies
“Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children.”
“No nation has done more to advance the human condition than the United States of America. And no people have done more to promote human progress than the citizens of our great nation,”
“We must demand that our children are taught once again to see America as did Reverend Martin Luther King, when he said that the Founders had signed ‘a promissory note’ to every future generation. Dr. King saw that the mission of justice required us to fully embrace our founding ideals... He called on his fellow citizens not to rip down their heritage, but to live up to their heritage.”
The foregoing are excerpts from President Trump’s July 3rd speech, at Mount Rushmore. However, four prominent print publications saw it as they put it dark and divisive. In fact, the Wall Street Journal highlighted four news organization’s column leads or significant distortations as follows;
“At Mt. Rushmore, Trump uses Fourth of July celebration to stoke a culture war”
—Los Angeles Times
”Trump Uses Mount Rushmore Speech to Deliver Divisive Culture War Message”
—New York Times
”Trump pushes racial division, flouts virus rules at Rushmore”
—Associated Press
”At Mount Rushmore, Trump exploits social divisions, warns of ‘left-wing cultural revolution’ in dark speech ahead of Independence Day”
—Washington Post
Statues and monuments continue to be under assault around the country, but those actions appear to be in abatement as a result of the strong executive order signed by the President, reinforcing the existing laws. Nevertheless, the historic bronze effigies of the country aren’t completely exempt from destruction threat but there are exceptions.
The statue of Senator Robert Byrd is still in the United States Capital building after Speaker Pelosi removed the portraits of anyone connected with the confederacy from the premises. Senator Byrd was a rock-ribbed Democrat segregationist who filibustered against the civil rights act of 1964, and a former big shot in the Klu Klux Klan. Not a peep in the press about his statue in the capital or those scattered all over his native state, West Virginia where highways, bridges and buildings remained named after him.
More importantly, 15 young Black children have been murdered in the last couple of weeks in major metropolitan American cities. The slaughter of these young children is beyond unconscionable. Perhaps you’ve heard of an organization, Black Lives Matter. Have you heard of one small or large protest decrying these crimes in the black community by the BLM activists? Nope. There hasn’t been one. All one hears is that we have to “defund the police”.
The Marxist leaders of BLM don’t give a damn about these precious youngsters. Their stated goal is the radical overthrow and transformation of the United States government. Their pals in the media won’t re-channel their missionary zeal to trash Trump’s every word, to address this crisis in the inner city. It’s more important to worry over the Presidents tax returns than the mounting death toll in the black community…who are not dying as a result of rampant police violence. Another big lie.
The country is in turmoil. There’s no doubt about it. We have a President than can be ham handed at times. But the man has not expressed the kind of radical transformation of this country that is currently being advocated by the Democratic party front runner. Trump continues his mantra that he wants to grow the economy, create jobs and opportunity for all Americans while supporting the return of goods manufactured in the homeland and not overseas.
The quotes from the President’s speech at Mount Rushmore are hardly those of a man who is dark and divisive with a racial division on his agenda for the country. One thing is certain, we can count on the print and broadcast media to twist his words while supporting an opposition candidate who may well be addlepated.
