Civil Unrest
It’s rapidly becoming a national tragedy, the seemingly nonstop civil disorder, riots, looting and shooting that is epidemic in cities large and small, like Kenosha, Wisconsin. Over the weekend, the vast majority of the media changed the narrative after their leftist handlers concluded that the unrest was hurting Joe Biden’s candidacy. The reportage is now that it’s all Presidents Trump’s fault. What a bunch of balderdash.
For three months, since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, not one major Democrat figure condemned the senseless mayhem throughout the country. Not one word during their convention other than to refer to those instigators as “peaceful protestors”.
Finally, when the pot boiled over, Joe Biden had to make a speech regarding the matter. So, he went to Pittsburg, gave a 20 minute speech, and doubled down on the storyline that it’s all Donald Trump’s doing. “Come on man”, as he is fond of saying.
Unless Biden has been on Mars for the last three months, he ought to know that the protests and riots are led by Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa. He didn’t mention those groups in his teleprompter speech, never used the words “left-wing”. Instead, he decided to mix in “right-wing” extremists as part of the problem as well. There is absolutely no evidence that “right wingers” were burning businesses and attacking police precincts. Blending the two sides as equally responsible is absurd. That’s not a defense of the right-wing extremists but a simple fact, because for months documented leftist militants have dominated metropolitan streets.
The problem for Mr. Biden isn’t so much the rioters themselves. Those looting aren’t Biden voters, nor are those who are shooting people in Portland, or setting fires in Kenosha. He did denounce the current mayhem but needed to call out the guilty parties…by name…and he didn’t. That’s regrettable on his part and his running mate, Senator Harris. The BLM/Antifa instigators hate the country and view the current government as terrible. This is not the system they want to be part of, now or ever.
Civil unrest is fueled by looney, weak-kneed Mayors like Seattle’s Jenny Durkan who described the take-over of a city section as a “summer of love,” or Portland’s Ted Wheeler who joined protesters outside the Federal courthouse and was shocked when his pals tried to burn down his condo last night. Both these dummies demonized and undermined their own police departments, which only encourages protesters to create more chaos.
The leap to “riot and loot” without all the facts is tragic. While Jacob Blake, who was shot resisting arrest while going for a knife, might be the result of police over-reaction, that’s not the whole story. Why the police were there has not be widely reported. They were responding to a sexual assault call and discovered that Jacob, who already had a warrant out and a restraining order for a similar offense against the same female who called 911, was the perpetrator of the latest attack. Did the National media tell the whole story? Nope. So, half the story comes out, the police brutality narrative only. A city burns, businesses are destroyed, and lives are forever altered. Facts matter. Only the New York Post reported the story. Where’s the justice for the sexual assault victim?
Every major metropolitan area fraught with unrest has one common thread, they are all run by progressive Democrats. When did the party of Kennedy, Truman and Roosevelt become so indifferent to law and order? This is not an issue of race any longer, it looks more like a Marxist revolution. No different than what the Bolsheviks did in 1917. Using the tragic death of George Floyd to springboard an anarchist’s agenda is reprehensible just as using only half the story of Blake’s shooting.
President Eisenhower once said, "It is only as we govern ourselves that we are well-governed." There are far too many local leaders that are failing miserably to govern, and the result is the show we see on the nightly news. That show needs to be cancelled.
By all accounts, a majority of Americans do not want this unrest to continue.
