CYA
As grand juries are now being empaneled to investigate the 2016 Russiagate scandal, there’s a lot of CYA (Cover Your Assets) happening among prominent Democrat swamp actors. Recent revelations about the how the now phony narrative about Russia was hatched, to disable the first Trump Presidential campaign, have made this necessary. Hillary Clinton and her acolytes are lawyering up. The term treason has entered the ongoing discussion. This is serious.
The bad actors like John Brennen, James Clapper, James Comey, Susan Rice and others can be found all over the legacy media saying, “Who me?” That common talking point to express surprise, feigned innocence, or disbelief by them is at its core, disingenuous at the least. The co-ringleader of this plot to disable the campaign and the new administration is strangely silent. Obama is not out of the woods by any means.
So, one would think that the coverage of this, the biggest political scandal in American history, would be wall to wall in the legacy media. Not so fast. Instead, the story has received minimal in-depth coverage with the exception of the conspiracy architects who claim the disclosures are overstated. Print coverage is buried in the back of the paper or discounted on the editorial pages.
In its place is comprehensive reportage of the Texas gerrymandering dispute and Syndey Sweeney’s Demin commercials. First the Texas kerfuffle. There’s a lot of CYA going on with the Texas Democrat legislators who have fled to Illinois under the protection of, and sheltered by the state’s corpulent Governor JB Pritzker. His state is the poster child for gerrymandering. Even doomed late night host Steven Colbert pointed this out to the Governor, who was on a break from the Hometown Buffet.
The Republicans are seeking to redraw five congressional districts which will give the Hispanic population fair representation in the United States House of Representatives. The democrat legislators have left the state to prevent a vote on the new map. Former Republican Rep. Mayra Flores cheered the move as she potentially stands to gain if the Texas map goes into effect. “The map released today will provide Texans with fair representation in Congress.” The Democrats stand to lose five seats if the maps are demographically correct. Hence their howling.
The uproar over the American Eagle Jeans commercial featuring actress Syndey Sweeney just won’t go away. The tag line of the commercial, “Syndey Sweeny has great jeans” has roiled the woke nation. Female critics with nose rings, blue/green/pink hair and figures that demand that their denim is made by Triple A Tent and Awning are making accusations that this is “Nazi propaganda”. Spare us ladies and get some Ozempic injections.
Petite rapper Lizzo squeezed into a pair of jeans and declared that she had good “jeans” like Sweeney. Good for her, but nobody dare accuse her of being a tool of the MAGA nation. The CYA over what jeans look good on who’s fanny is patently ridiculous. Even Beyoncé has weighed in with a new Levi commercial that attempts to make her look hotter than cultural icon Marilyn Monroe. It also has sparked debate, with some praising it and others accusing her of cultural appropriation. No one is messing with Beyoncé.
The media loves tabloid journalism, especially when it comes to promoting the anti-Trump narrative. Syndey is Nazi and so is her German Shepard. Epstein was as thick as flies with Trump. The Republicans want to cheat the Democrats out of their current congressional seats. But when it comes to the any real news of the day, their coverage is as in-depth as a missing person on a milk carton. The Russiagate disgrace is just the latest.
CYA is a time-honored tactic with one major liability. Everyone figures it out eventually. The figuring is happening now.
