Freedom
Lately there’s has been an awful lot of dialog in the media about the loss of personal freedom and the violation of the First Amendment as a result to the pandemic onslaught created by the China Flu. Never in the history of the Republic has there been such an active discussion of Constitutional rights with the possible exception to the civil rights movement. Two cases in the news bear discussion, General Flynn and Shelly Luther.
First today, the case against Lt. General Michael Flynn has been dropped by the Department of Justice (DOJ). The dimensions of this miscarriage of justice reveal an arrogant, high-handed, and disturbing prosecution without any foundation in truth. The national media is not extensively covering this for all the obvious reasons, it was the first volley fired in what has been characterized as an attempted coup. Any fair mined observer would call this a travesty. The absence of mainstream media coverage is astonishing, particularly in the case of General Flynn, a man who served this nation for 33 years in the United Sates Army, with honor and courage.
The General was set up by the FBI three days after Trump was inaugurated. A plot to hamstring or sabotage the new administration would appear to have been their purpose. From their now released notes, senior FBI officials, wanted the General to: "to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired? If we get him to admit to breaking the Logan Act, give facts to the DOJ and have them decide. Or if he initially lies, then we can present him and he admits it, document for the DOJ and let them decide how to address it." It’s called a perjury trap, a disgusting ploy used by corrupt investigators.
Those are the FBI’s notes about their strategy, on the day that Flynn, without a lawyer, was interviewed by the FBI in the White House about Russian interference in the 2016 election.
They were trying to nail General Flynn for two things, a violation of the Logan Act (contacting an official head of another country prior to being in office) and failure to register as a foreign agent. Part of the squeeze they put on General Flynn was that the FBI threatened to hammer his son. The implication that his son failed to meet requirements under the Foreign Agency Registration Act." His real crime? After leaving the Obama administration, where he wasn’t exactly beloved, General Flynn was the first high ranking Obama administration official to endorse Donald Trump for president.
In Texas, another example of an egregious application of law, Shelley Luther, a hair salon owner was jailed and finally released today because she refused to apologize for opening her business. She told the judge she had to feed her family and was not being selfish as the judge alleged. Her employees also needed to work to provide for their children. As such she would not close her business. Shelly’s refusal got her seven days in jail until the Texas Supreme court ordered her release today Another example of justice run amok.
The questions, what constitutes equal and fair justice and what is judicial overreach and fraud, are paramount now. When did we start allowing FBI agents, local unelected officials and judges determine what is law and enforce it, without the slightest regard to one of the worlds’ greatest documents, the United States Constitution?
Pay attention to this quote. It gives one pause in view of current events.
“If we lose freedom here, there is no place to escape to. This is the last stand on Earth." Ronald Reagan
