Resolutions

The week between Christmas and New Year’s Day generally finds most people thinking about resolutions to make for the upcoming new year.  Studies have revealed that the vast majority of those promised changes never materialize no matter how well intended they were at the time. Nevertheless, some bear discussion and action.

A good resolution would be for the vaunted “mainstream media” to start reporting the news straight up without the color of reporter personal opinions.  An account of all the news that allows the reader to draw their own conclusions would certainly be refreshing. For example, The New York Times still hasn’t published one word about Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell and his affair with the Chinese honeypot, (Christine) Fang Fang. Since 1897 the famous slogan "All the News That's Fit to Print," has appeared on the masthead of the paper. That slogan was written as declaration of the Times’ intention to report the news impartially. Why doesn’t the Times resolve to follow that commitment? Even CNN has covered the story.

Maybe the press should commit to covering the Biden Administration with the same missionary zeal that they did Trump’s. They could start by not acting like sheep when Joe holds a “press conference”. Those to date have consisted of softball questions from pre-selected reporters. Not exactly hard-hitting journalism.  There is no doubt that a double standard exists, just watch as they gently question the “President-Elect”. Still no in-depth reportage about the renowned international businessman, Hunter Biden and his suspicious activities.

How about a commitment to old fashioned paper ballots, with signatures verified on absentee ballots, and an honest undisputed monitored count using machines and software that aren’t suspect? States that didn’t use the dubious systems have not been in the news. Voting should be on one day and not weeks in advance of the actual election.  The confusion and turmoil of the last several weeks, since November 3rd, could have been avoided had this been the case.  Of course, this may fly in the face of the need for instantaneous results demanded by social media.

Maybe the Democratic governors who continue to conduct heinous, illogical shutdowns should resolve to follow the example of Governor DeSantis of Florida when it comes to pandemic crises management. An advocate of masks, hand washing, social distancing and sanitizing public contact points, the Governor has allowed small businesses and restaurants to remain open. Obviously, DeSantis knows that there is no scientific evidence that going to the nail/beauty salon, family restaurant or any other small business contributes to the spread of the China flu any more than going to Costco or Target does.

Here’s a resolution that is vitally important, prioritizing the return of the nation’s children to the classroom would be a worthy declaration by the national leadership.  We have the vaccines so let’s get the schoolteachers and staff inoculated. The damage already inflicted on the young is unforgivable as the isolation from friends and classmates is creating chaos. Learning is not happening.  Not reported is the increase in teen suicides and drug usage among the youth. Reopening the schools is not politically correct and doesn’t fit the conditional narrative or agenda we hear from the Teachers Unions throughout the country. Parents need to seize control of their schools from the bureaucrats.

This idea isn’t new, but it does have new urgency, given the extortion scheme the majority of Teacher Unions are running. Those demands have nothing to do with education or teacher safety. Government officials who claim to care about students should be forced to pick a side. Do they care more about placating Teachers’ Unions or guaranteeing our kids get an education? We need to find out, now.

These resolutions are all important and should be carried out. There is no point in resolving to do something and then 3 days later forgetting about it.  If one needs priority, let’s start with the nation’s children and their education.

After all, they are the key to the future of the United States.

We all need normal, let’s start with these resolutions.
