Cancel Culture
No doubt about it, the term “cancel culture” is in the news now every day in one form or another. Actually, it should be interpreted as the cancellation of common sense. The faux outrage coming from the propagators of this nonsense can be found within the ranks of the committed liberal Democrats. One would be hard pressed to find any conservative or clear-thinking Republican who, when pressed would be endorsing this daily dose of insanity.
The latest victim of this hysteria coming from the woke mob, is the beloved children’s series, The Muppets. The Disney Corporation recently purchased the rights to the series and is releasing those episodes on their Disney+ streaming channel. Unfortunately, Disney has employed some censors or minders, who after viewing some of the content, decided that it would be necessary to slap a warning on the beginning of certain episodes. These knuckleheads have determined that content could warp, harm, affect or injure the minds of young viewers. Kermit and Miss Piggy were crestfallen as were the two old coots, a pair of Muppet characters, who always sat in the balcony grousing.
The Muppets are just the latest in the sights of the culture warriors. Consider the geniuses who run the schools in the once great city of San Francisco. These loons have determined that all the schools need to change their names, as Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, Herbert Hoover and even Senator Diane Feinstein have committed some egregious and heinous acts that threaten to ruin the lives of students attending those schools. These are only a few of the names that are under assault. At some point when does common sense prevail, and the clowns advocating this stupidity are told to pound sand?
The cancel culture maniacs are after anything and everything that would be considered traditional values. There is a concerted effort to obfuscate the Nation’s history by removing statues and rewriting history books. They would have you believe that America is an unhealthy place, and it has to be remade to fit the culturally correct narrative of the Left. The problem is simple when analyzed, these nutcases make up less than five percent of the population but sadly have compliant pals in the print/broadcast media and Hollywood. Once you get away from the liberal coasts, one will discover an America that does not want any part of this madness, an America consisting of hard-working citizens who like their traditions and values.
In major universities across the country, thanks to the preponderance of leftist thinking, the cancelling culture flame is fanned by tenured professors. They’re working night and day to convert their students to societal warriors dedicated to remaking the Republic into a socialist utopia. In the history of the world there isn’t one example of a successful Marxist, communist or socialist utopia. Not one. There are, however, a multitude of tragic examples of what totalitarian regimes do to the ordinary folks.
It's almost like the country is being threatened by troubled, basement dwelling, shut-ins who have lost their way and decided to make life as miserable as possible for the rest of us. The cretinism exhibited by these self-appointed elitists is stunning and they don’t give a hoot about anything other than their twisted agenda. Sadly, the Muppets found themselves in the cultural cancelling gunsights of the looney Left for reasons that will never find a foundation in common sense.
A reality that needs to be exposed is the absence of courage by elected leaders to bring a halt to this. Remember how the former President was vilified when he called them out on this, for lack of a better word, crap. He was keel hauled in the media, pilloried in the public square daily by the editors of the nation’s leading papers. Misquoted and denigrated, as political blood sport grew in proportions unseen in national reportage.
So, what clear thinking politician in his or her right mind wants to take on these zealots with their powerful allies in the broadcast and print media? There have been a few who have spoken up and immediately, faster than the Cookie Monster devouring a box of Girl Scout Smores, a synchronized campaign began to label them as a right-wing, extremist nutcases. God forbid, they might lose their job if they stick to their core common sense.
Wouldn’t you just love to hear what the old coot Muppets in the balcony, Statler and Waldorf, best known for their heckling and cantankerous opinions, would say about this insanity?
