A Tale of Two Fences

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness…” This is, perhaps, one of the most memorable quotes from the Charles Dickens’ classic, A Tale of two Cities. With apologies to Dickens, a brief story about two fences, that currently demonstrates no wisdom, and complete foolishness.

In the Washington firmament, ruled by the most partisan majority in history, a three-and-a-half-mile fence topped with razor wire circles the Capitol.  The fence was the result of the January 6th riot where a minority of zealots broke into the building and essentially trashed it, disrupting the electoral college certification of the presidential race.

Despite advance warnings from the FBI, as disclosed in congressional testimony this past week, the Capitol police and the DC police were woefully underprepared for the chaos. Pipe bombs were planted the night before at the Democratic and Republican national headquarters. More and more evidence is coming forth that this was not a spontaneous event. There were no contingency plans in place for increased security or to put the national guard on standby.

The result was a sham impeachment of the previous President, and the creation of what is now known as “Fort Pelosi”, defended by 5,000 national guard troops. The optics of this are purposeful.  The Democrats and their compliant media sycophants want to promulgate the fiction that the Republic is under threat from Right wing extremists, white racists and all manner of Nazi-like nuts. The media story line ties the conservative movement and the Republican party to these riots, and the idiots who participated. The irony of this is rich, as no one in the media tied the BLM/Antifa violence of last summer to the Democratic party. This fence and the troops make the United States capitol look like a third world banana republic and not a constitutional republic.

On the Nation’s southern border there’s a fence, a wall built to halt the invasion of illegal aliens. The Biden Administration has reversed all the directives and orders that shut down this assault on the country’s sovereignty. Construction on already authorized and funded border wall has ceased. The new regime has declared that these illegals entering the nation are to be known as “undocumented non-citizens”. This is the term to be used in future communications. Here’s a news flash for the toadies who thought up this baloney, “If you’re in the country without the proper documentation, you’re here illegally and subject to deportation”.

Anyone brighter that a 25-watt light bulb knows that this country can’t afford an influx of unskilled, poorly educated migrants.  These illegals aren’t dumb, because they know that once they’re here, the gravy train of their dreams is ready to board. The elites who assuage a misplace guilt about these poor people haven’t spent 10 seconds thinking about our citizens who need jobs and assistance. They’re ensconced in a world detached from the realities that everyday folks deal with.

The current, huge surge of illegal adult and unaccompanied minors coming entering the country, is a direct result of Joe Biden’s radical change in border policy. The “cages” that were built during the Obama Administration are back in use again because the “remain in Mexico policy” has been cancelled.  This is a mess that’s not going to get any better regardless of what you hear or read. It’s been said over and over again that a Nation isn’t a Nation if it doesn’t have enforceable borders and implemented immigrations policies. The “line jumping” now allowed is grossly unfair to those who have followed the rules and are patiently waiting their turn to become Americans.

Putting a fence around the capitol to further the illusion of an imminent threat to the elected pols is foolishness and more importantly, it’s disingenuous. Correspondingly, it is equally foolish to not maintain a fence (wall) on the Nation’s southern border, allowing any and all to wander in and take advantage of Joe Biden’s largesse.

To paraphrase the end of the Dickens’s classic, “it would be a far better thing to do”, remove the capitol fence and maintain the southern fence for the health of the nation. The hypocritical policies regarding both fences create optics that speak to chaos.
