Blinders

To keep a horse undistracted, focused on its direction, you fit the animal with blinders, two flaps on the bridle to keep it from seeing objects at its sides. President Joe Biden has been fitted with blinders by his progressive handlers as evidenced by his complete inability to see, peripherally, several issues critical to the well-being of the Nation.  

Among these ignored problems are a wide-open southern border, runaway crime in major cities, inflation at the highest rate in years, drug use increasing, enraged citizens (especially first responders and military members) mandated to take the Covid vaccination and skyrocketing energy and food prices. Joe is more tone deaf to these matters that any President in recent memory. Compounding this, is an incapability to conduct a press conference without scripted questions and pre-screened questioners. The fact that all he does is read a teleprompter every couple of days, touting his “Build Back Better” ginormous spending program, is troubling. 

While Joe’s reading away, caravans of illegal immigrants are heading north toward our southern border. This is a crisis of his own doing as the first day Joe sat in the Oval Office, he signed a half a dozen executive orders cancelling all of Trump’s border policies, including wall construction. This was not logical by any means but driven by his visceral hate for all things Trump. His feelings are not exactly a state secret. However, when President Bush signed the legislation to build the 700 miles of fencing along the Mexican border in 2006, then Senator Biden said the following, “Folks, I voted for a fence I voted, unlike most Democrats -- and some of you won't like it -- I voted for 700 miles of fence." A spin off of the leaky border is the rampant increase in drug smuggling that fuels criminal activity and gang violence in major cities.  The killings in Chicago and other major metropolises result when rival gangs are at war over who controls distribution of the illicit cartel drugs. Anyone heard an enraged Joe reading from his teleprompter about this weekly slaughter? Nope.

Mandated vaccination policy isn’t a hit with a decent percentage of Americans.  This week New York City first responders marched across the Brooklyn Bridge expressing their anger over forced compliance by the Nation’s worst mayor Bill DeBlasio. Sanitation worker Joseph Reichling said, "Also had a vaccine we all got as little kids called the polio vaccine, and you know what? I never got polio, but I know people who have been vaccinated and gotten coronavirus." That’s a fact. Failure to comply means that these essential workers will go on unpaid leave.  The guy driving this insanity is none other than the Washington Reader in Chief. Wonder if it ever occurred to him that he should use friendly persuasion rather than endorsed tactics that smack of jack-booted brown shirts?  

Finally, inflation is heading up largely due to increased energy prices thanks to additional executive orders signed by blinder wearing Joe, reversing American’s energy independence achieved under the Trump administration. This reversal was his homage to the global warming crowd who clamored for him to save the planet. One only needs to look the cost of a gallon of gasoline now, versus one year ago.  Oil is selling for over $80.00 a barrel, compared to $40.00 last year. All items consumers buy are likely shipped by truck.  Higher fuel costs mean higher prices.  One doesn’t have to be a Harvard MBA to figure that out. So, what’s Joe’s solution? He calls up the Saudis and asks them and their OPEC pals to pump more oil. Brilliant move Joe. They all passed.

So, “Here’s the deal” as Joe would say.  Rather than address these pressing issues at home, this week he’s off to Glasgow Scotland for the UN Global Climate Change Conference. Biden will no doubt meet with that well-known and celebrated environmental expert Greta Thunberg for pointers on how to save the earth. Notable by their absences will be Chinese President Xi Jinping, who’s busy building more coal fired electric generating plants and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, actively working on increased Russian natural gas and oil drilling. Greta will be crushed.

The Nation is saddled with this horse for three more years. Given the direction he’s headed, his continued malfeasance of the Office is unacceptable. At the least, the country needs someone to remove the blinders off Joe before the wheels come of the wagon. Maybe then he’ll see what the real problems are and God forbid, execute some good governance.
