Who Do You Trust?
““Who Do You Trust” was an American television quiz show hosted by a young Johnny Carson. The show first aired on September 30, 1957. In the quiz portion, Carson would tell the male contestant the category of the upcoming question; the man would then have to decide whether to answer the question himself or "trust" his wife to do so. That premise wouldn’t last 10 seconds nowadays as it is not politically correct, but remember it was the 1950’s.
Today everyone must ask themselves, “Who Do You Trust?”. Given the current national environment, this is an important question. The pandemic, the economy, the climate doomsayers, the actions of state and federal politicians, all have created doubt. Do Americans rely on their own good common sense or trust what some shifty-eyed politician or agenda driven pundit says to make decisions for their families, their own health and well-being? Let’s examine a few.
An obvious example is the blather that the country has been subjected to from the highest paid government employee, Doctor Anthony Fauci. For nearly two years this provable liar has changed his analysis of and position on the “China Flu” too many times to count. His advice is as credible as what you’d get from an Old West medicine man selling hair restoration products off the back of a covered wagon. A man who favors constitutionally illegal mask mandates, who pundits and bureaucrats think is the defining authority when it comes to your individual health decisions. Is he trustworthy? Yours and your doctor’s judgement is where the trust belongs.
Should you trust the 30,000 folks attending a climate change summit in Glasgow, Scotland “who flew there in over 400 private jets”? These elite zealots want to dictate what kind of car you drive, how you heat and power your home, all the while they continue to live large in mansions, relax on their yachts, and travel on their Gulfstream 5s. The speakers range from a Swedish teenager with no scientific training to a King-in- Waiting who’s long been way out of touch with the ordinary folks. Attendee Joe Biden was so transfixed that he was caught napping through speeches about this truly important crisis facing the planet. Are they trustworthy?
How about trusting the local schoolboard to produce a curriculum that fits your agenda instead of their view of what’s important for the country’s most valuable resource, our children, to learn? Teaching Critical Race Theory has created a national uproar when it was finally exposed how racist it is. As former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice stated on ABC’s The View recently, “I would like black kids to be completely empowered to know they are beautiful in their Blackness. But in order to do that, I don’t need to make white kids feel bad for being white. This is a conversation that I think has gone in the wrong direction.” Also, can these board members be trusted to accurately report to constituents, the activity, criminal or otherwise, that takes place inside the schools? As witnessed in the Virginia governor’s election results folks aren’t pleased with that direction. Just ask former Governor McAuliffe.
Do you trust Joe Biden to be an effective President? Starting with his ham-handed foreign policy, the Afghanistan debacle, irritating France and then apologizing for being “clumsy”, Joe has taken American diplomacy to a pitiful level. His misguided policies with respect to fossil fuel have driven inflation to new heights. Executive orders that targeted the oil and gas industry, crippled it and then resulted in increased fuel prices and has increase the cost of goods. Remember, a huge majority of what Americans consume is delivered by truck. Same holds true with the Southern Border. With just a signature he’s created an illegal immigrant invasion unseen in recent memory. This flood of poorly educated, unskilled illegals is unsustainable and financially burdens the local communities. This unnecessary handicap on local schools and public services is grossly unfair to legal citizens.
The lesson from the Gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey is simple. Americans do possess enough good, native common sense that they recognized the leftist social con job that is resident in the current Democrat party. A portion of the 81 million “Joe voters” have contracted “Biden Remorse”. When a recent NBC News poll revealed that 71% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, the only answer is found in the ballot box. Yesterday’s vote spoke volumes. Those distressed progressive media pundits and politicians who are clutching their pearls as a result, should realize that their socialist vision of the Republic is not trusted any longer. There is an appropriate message about governance in an inaugural address from forty years ago.
“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we've been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else? All of us together, in and out of government, must bear the burden. The solutions we seek must be equitable, with no one group singled out to pay a higher price.” President Ronald Reagan
