“But folks, I'm going"

That’s how President Joe Biden ended his first press conference after 64 days of stalling.  Reportedly practicing for this mainstream media group hug since this historic event was announced, Joe took questions from a pre-selected list of 10 alleged reporters for a little over an hour and abruptly left.

Biden used a three-ring binder full of talking points, and constantly read answers to the softball questions from the chosen media.  Savvy analysts have noted that no President in memory has ever conducted a press conference where prepared responses were at the ready for White House reporters. The fix was in. As he sputtered and stumbled through some of the tougher questions, no right-minded observer could call his performance adroit and nimble or believe that the majority of the questions were not planted.

Pretty remarkable that Biden did not get asked about the impact of the urgent problems the pandemic has created for the Nation’s children with schools still closed. No plan was forthcoming to hasten the end of the Covid economic devastation that has gripped this country for over a year, except some nebulous proposed spending bill.

Biden did respond to the border crises. When asked about the plan to resettled unaccompanied minors, illegally crossing the border, he responded with a monstrous lie. He explained that he was resettling minors in the United States instead of “letting them starve to death and stay on the other side” (Mexico) which he accused Trump of doing. This is stunningly untrue, but no reporter had the stones to follow up on that lie.  Joe also said he would open up the facilities holding the minors for inspection when he was ready. Censorship? Transparency?

Apparently, no aide/handler put in his “cheat sheet” three-ring binder the actual truth, that illegal crossers under the Trump Administration were returned to Mexico and transferred to migration authorities not left in the desert to starve. Unaccompanied minors were returned to their “home countries” to be reunited with their own families. They were not returned to Mexico unless Mexico was their home.

Biden went on to claim that hurricanes, floods and gang violence were the reason for this influx of illegal immigrants. Meanwhile, the violence is widespread. Horror stories about what these illegals are enduring at the hands of the coyotes, human traffickers and the cartels is known, but not a peep about that from the President or his media collaborators. Biden is either ignorant or clueless or both on the border crises.

The Nation was brought up to date on foreign policy.  Biden responded/read well crafted responses to questions about China, Afghanistan and North Korea. Some will argue that there’s nothing wrong with a President having a list of reporters he will call upon, Obama did it all the time, singling out his favorite media outlets. But it’s completely wrong to have written answers to foreign policy questions that are read verbatim. No President has ever done that, not one, at a press conference.

Included in the ten questions Joe got was the obligatory gun control inquiry. Rather than answer that question he simply said, “It’s a matter of timing”, and he spun off on infrastructure initiative spending. Perhaps he didn’t want to wax on that subject, as reports have surfaced about his son Hunter, illegally purchasing a firearm   If strict gun control measures didn’t stop Biden’s son from buying one, what makes any Democrats think they’d stop criminals and loons from buying guns?

He saved his most vociferous response to a question about a recently passed Georgia voting law, calling them pernicious, un-American and a return to “Jim Crow” laws, that enforced racial segregation in the southern United States. They are relics of the late 19th and early 20th centuries created by southern Democrats. The new legislation passed in Georgia mandates a form of voter identification. What does Jim Crow have to do with voter ID? People have drivers’ licenses, work IDs and passports, so what’s wrong with voter identification? The only reason for not having it is because maybe elections can be manipulated the with illegal votes.  By the way Joe, your home state Delaware, has similar laws.

That response led to Speakers Pelosi’s voting rights bill, HR-1, which Joe says must pass, but the Senate  filibusterer rule is a problem, and he will fight to eliminate it.  HR-1 federalizes voting and takes it from state jurisdiction, a clear violation of states’ rights.  The most common form of filibuster occurs when one or more senators attempt to delay or block a vote on a bill by extending debate on the measure. Elimination means that a simple majority is needed to pass any of Biden’s progressive, socialist measures.  Both Biden and Obama as senators supported the filibuster rule. Video evidence of their support is abundant. No reporter followed up on that either.

"The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic."  John F. Kennedy

The contrived press conference witnessed by the Nation yesterday fit President Kennedy’s characterization of the truth. The dishonest and unrealistic myth of Presidential command and competence, perpetrated by the mainstream media’s protective fawning over Joe Biden is frightening.
