California Gas

Californians are leading the Nation in a number of areas, homelessness, addiction, wasteful high speed trains and the cost of gasoline. The state imports substantial quantities of crude oil because the looney environmentalists have created regulations that have choked in-state production and limited pipeline connections to other parts of the country. As a result, California depends on marine terminals to receive shipments of crude oil from Alaska, and from overseas sources, including countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil. Over 60% of the state's oil comes from those countries. This makes California more vulnerable to supply disruption.

As a result, Californians pay higher prices for gasoline than any other state, often $2.00 more than the national average. Despite being an oil-rich state, California's residents face these elevated costs. Governor Gavin Newsom attributes recent price spikes to oil companies, while also blaming President Trump for the impact of his policies. Thirty years ago, the vast majority of California's oil was sourced domestically, mainly from California and Alaska. Studies have shown that domestic crude oil is cleaner, generating 20% to 50% fewer methane emissions than foreign sources. What say you, environmentalists?

Never mind that Governor Newsom does not address the fact that taxes and fees in California are more than double the national average. Recently, Chevron's CEO criticized Newsom for "misguided and crippling climate regulations" that have raised prices and led to refinery closures. California lawmakers have moved away from supporting critical infrastructure, such as refineries, working for two decades to limit their operation.

Newsom argues that the origin of oil does not affect prices, since everyone pays the global market price. What planet is this loon living on? He also claims that repealing the gas tax would not lower prices, asserting that oil companies would keep any savings rather than pass them on to consumers. Baloney.

Consumers in California could see relief soon as the President has announced the release of oil from strategic petroleum reserves, with other countries contributing as well. Additionally, Bloomberg reports that President Trump intends to use the Defense Production Act to increase offshore oil production, particularly off the Santa Barbara coast, where there is so much oil that it leaks from the ocean floor. Balls of crude oil are regularly found on Santa Barbara’s beaches.

California's anti-fossil fuel policies have significantly reduced its once-thriving oil production, domestic oil fields around Bakersfield lie dormant, increasing reliance on foreign oil from places like the Persian Gulf. These policies contribute to California's position of having the highest gasoline costs in the Nation.

There is speculation that current actions, such as "Operation Epic Fury”, may eventually prompt Californians to reconsider radical environmental policies that have impacted the state's oil industry and affordable energy. Of course that would depend on honest reporting by the progressive media. Fat chance that they will expose the folly of Newsom’s policies and his tree hugging pals.

The recent disruptions highlight the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to ensure global oil tanker movement. If the U.S. and its partners can maintain stability in the region, global economic impacts may be minimized. The situation also reinforces the necessity of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons because there is no doubt that those zealots would blackmail their neighbors. The proof is readily evident as the Iranians are attacking all the gulf countries with drones and ballistic missiles.

The malevolent Mullahs threat to global energy security and economic stability is real…just ask any Californian who’s buying gas at Costco. Of course, the TDS sufferers in California state government and their federal friends don’t give a hoot about the folks. If they did, it would be all hands-on decks to produce oil and build refineries in California.  Instead, there is a strong chance that more will close.

More evidence that the progressive Democrats that run California are beyond clueless.

One fact is certain, California’s state and federal elected progressive politicians do produce gas, but unfortunately it won’t run a car.
