“Tomorrow hopes we learned something from yesterday.”

John Wayne

So now in this era of extreme wokeness, affronted Democrats in Orange County, California have decided that the local airport, currently known as John Wayne Airport, name needs to be renamed.  Evidently in 1971 he made an unfortunate statement regarding African Americans in a Playboy magazine interview.  Of course, in that day and age, Playboy was hailed for its deep intellectual content and massive contribution to the literacy of Western Civilization. What everyone fails to realize that at some point in their lives every human being on the planet has said something incredibly regrettable.

The Jimmy’s, Kimmell and Fallon, are under fire because in their comedic careers, they have appeared in blackface as part of a humorous skit. Their opportunity to ply their trade is now under fire and they’re wearing out their knees, seeking forgiveness. Correctness gone wild.  No doubt every comedian on the earth has made jokes about other races or ethnicities. Let’s search the video archives, find their trespasses, and hang them all by their thumbs for these unspeakable sins.

President Woodrow Wilson’s name is going to be stricken the halls of Princeton University. His positions on race have been called into question now that he’s been taking a dirt nap for over 95 years.  He did appoint African Americans to positions that had traditionally been filled by blacks, overcoming opposition from many southern Democrat senators but continued the hiring policies and segregation of government offices.

President Theodore Roosevelt’s statue will no longer be visible at the America Museum of Natural History.  The man started the National Park Service, championed national park and forest creation, with five major parks and several forests designated by him. Should these and his other accomplishments be repudiated because a statute is a perceived insult to one or more ethnic groups? The image in question which shows the nation’s 26th president on horseback, flanked by an African man and a Native American man. Can’t we just look at this as art, but not representative of racial inequality? It’s been there for over 80 years.

How come is tolerable for the Black Lives Matters’ (BLM) leaders to trash white people in general, or specifically target one or more individuals as evil and unworthy, yet they’re not called racists?  No, these radicals are referred to as “justice warriors” by our politically correct media. Baloney.  This is a Marxist movement that anyone can readily determine with a minimum of internet research.  Naturally that assumes Google won’t obfuscate the search engine to make the investigation difficult.

This insanity must end. Does every historical figure in American History need to be simon-pure for them to pass the smell test imposed by left wing progressive Marxist radicals? Who in the world do these knuckleheads think they are, to now be the moral arbiters of national history and culture? The moniker “Snowflake” could apply to these revisionists. Mostly spoiled leftists wrought with guilt because they have “white privilege”, and who attended expensive colleges their parents paid for.  Just observe the recent protest crowd demographics. Destroying antiquities doesn’t change history, as someone will remember the truth and what misguided loons these heretics were.

Further, this nonsense doesn’t stop with toppling statues.  Streets, towns and maybe states will have to be renamed to fit the pure racial and cultural narrative advocated by the BLM radicals and their partisans. At some point in time the irrationally must end. The solution to racial animus is education about our country and culture and not the destruction of it. Cultural cancellation is exclusive to Marxist, Communist and Nazi movements.

Ample evidence exists, that demonstrates the lousy job educators have done in the inner city and even the suburbs. With huge budgets compared to what is spent by private schools, the public system functions in many districts as nothing more than an expensive day care service where learning is only rumored.  Ignorance of our nation’s history is resident in today’s youth as the result of failed, ineffective education.

We are now a nation living in a state of perpetual offense. Doesn’t matter what our leaders say or do, everyone has an earthshaking grievance.  Just listen to the leaders of the “grievance” industry, i.e., Al Sharpton. The question is simply – if this country is so flawed, so miserably racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and repressive, then why is the rest of the world so desperate to come to this country? Why are we building a wall?

Meanwhile, if all else fails, maybe the local politicians rename the airport for his wife, “The Pilar Wayne Airport”. Politicly acceptable, as she is Hispanic.

The Duke was right - “Tomorrow hopes we learned something from yesterday.” Why not try that thinking?
