Fiddling…
“The system continues to fail us; we are not safe anymore.” Those are the words of Dominique Rivera, the widow of slain NYPD police officer Jason Rivera, as she gave a moving eulogy at her husband’s funeral. New York governor Kathy Hochul issued a statement that officer Rivera was killed by an “illegal gun”, not a criminal with a long rap sheet out on parole. What an out of touch, clueless woke moron, just like her predecessor.
There’s a well-known expression that the Roman Emperor Nero, “fiddled while Rome burned.” The story goes that in 64 AD, Nero played music while the city was in flames and his people suffered. He was reputed to be an incompetent leader in a time of crisis. Lately, it’s increasingly evident the country has a lot of Nero’s.
So far this year, 30 police officers have been shot and 6 killed across the nation as the crime epidemic reaches epic proportions, predominantly in Democrat run cities. The Nation can thank weak, ineffectual leadership at every level in government, along extremely liberal district attorneys, largely supported and funded by one of the evilest humans on the planet, billionaire George Soros.
But doesn’t the buck stop in the oval office? Yet what is heard from the highest office in the Nation concerning runaway criminal activity? Crickets…except for an occasional chirp about gun control. The minister of propaganda, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki blathered the other day that various networks were covering important issues like the Ukraine then said, “Fox is talking (Jeanne Pirro, cohost of The Five) about ‘soft-on-crime’ consequences. I mean, what does that even mean, right? So, there’s just an alternate universe on some coverage. What’s scary about it is, a lot of people watch that.” So, we learned that Psaki doesn’t know what “soft on crime means”. Troubling to say the least. Furthermore, it appears that if you live in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, or any crime ridden city, that’s an alternative universe.
Hey Joe! Hey Jen! How about some chirps regarding criminal control, bail reform, stricter law enforcement? There won’t be any of that, Biden will visit New York this week to discuss his anti-gun crime strategies, which is more gun control laws. This is the usual false narrative that the progressive liberals and gun control advocates believe will solve the problem. Then again Joe, Jen and the rest of the regime’s administrators don’t live in an alternative universe. They live in a layered, bubbled protective cocoon with armed guards covering their every move.
Ever since career criminal George Floyd died while resisting arrest, police vilification has increased exponentially. The rogue police officer responsible for his death is in jail, convicted of using excessive force that contributed to his demise. The riots that ensued in the summer of 2020 were on a scale unseen in America, and law enforcement was a primary target of the violence. The police denigration and vilification by the left, is reminiscent of the treatment returning Vietnam veterans endured from the public in the 60s and 70s.
Prosecution for crime is on a holiday. Just one look at the looted packages along the Union Pacific tracks in Los Angeles is proof positive that a societal breakdown is in progress. The Soros backed LA District Attorney George Gascon, will not charge those caught breaking into rail cars with felonies. Instead, they get booked on a low-level beef that results in the perpetrators quick release and they’re back to robbing trains. The pictures are reminiscent of the third world. The continued murders and gang violence in Chicago continues with no abatement. What right minded person would walk the streets of New York City at day or night…or ride the subway?
Meanwhile Joe Biden shows up for teleprompter readings/speeches and photo-ops that are themed around “Build Back Better”, unconcerned about most Americans’ real priorities. His first year, by any measure, was disastrous. Should the criminal calamity continue unchecked and unaddressed, Biden will be known in perpetuity as the first “Nero” President to hold the office.
