Has it ever been more evident in American history that there are a different set of “rules” for Americans depending on where they fall in the social strata?  The former Democrat congresswoman from Hawaii, Tulsi Gabbard hit the proverbial nail on the head. Sadly, for the last two years the citizens have bought a narrative from these “power elites” that every day is being exposed as baloney. The mask mandate is the latest example of “rules for thee but not for me”. 

There’s been widespread exposure of well-known politicians’ sans mask, mugging for pictures and selfies all over broadcast and social media.  Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams grinning like a Cheshire cat in a room full of masked children. How about California Governor Gavin Newsom, living large at the NFC Championship, posing mask less for the camera with Magic Johnson.  LA Mayor Garcetti said he held his breath while his picture was taken with Magic.  Right.  Ever notice that most of these rule breakers belong to one political party?

With their political futures on the line, a lot of these elitists are wising up to the fact that “following the science” hasn’t necessarily been correct.  The pronouncements of Dr. Fauci regarding face coverings and vaccinations are not lock solid any longer.  We now know that you can get the virus despite being vaccinated and boosted, masking is not necessarily the answer.  As Dr. Mark Siegel stated, masks have a value, but they are way overstated. So now the mask mandates are being lifted, in the most restrictive Blue/Democratic states. The progressive loon politicians are wising up that the folks are sick and tired of the government meddling in their lives. They want the freedom to make their own medical decisions for themselves and their families.

Then we have the rules regarding the 2nd Amendment, a citizen’s right to bear arms.  The Power Elites are, by and large, the beneficiaries of armed public or private security details. They don’t have a need for private firearms for personal security.  With crime at record levels in major metropolitan cities, these same folks continue to preach stricter gun control as the solution to crime. Never mind criminal control or rigorous enforcement of the law by district attorneys.  The leniency practiced by the woke progressive district attorneys must end.   

Last week Biden visited New York the day after the funeral of a police officer murdered by a career, paroled felon.  His speech tried to smooth over the disastrous effect his party’s “defund the police” policy had on voter approval and support. Unfortunately, his focus was on gun control, not criminal control.  He touted his plans to crack down on firearms smuggling and homemade “ghost guns”. Absent from Joe’s remarks was the damage done by progressive, “restorative justice” district attorneys whose refusal to prosecute violent criminals to the full extent of the law. This practice is driving crime rates across the country to record highs. One Brooklyn detective quoted in The New York Post stated, “The guns are already here. We have to keep the people that we arrest with guns in jail. That is the only hope for innocent victims that get shot.”

Getting lectured on gun control from a guy whose 50-something year-old son, Hunter, illegally purchased a firearm that was then tossed into a trash can across from a school by his lover (his brother’s widow) is somewhat ironic. Hunter Biden clearly doesn’t listen to his dad’s lectures on gun control, so why should the rest of us.  Joe’s ideas of how to be safe if you own a firearm is equally ridiculous. In 2013, he was quoted in an interview stating, “If you want to keep someone away from your house, just fire the shotgun through the door." He has also advised that you could shoot a couple of rounds off your balcony to chase away intruders. Brilliant?

The rules and the standards are clearly defined in our society where equality has been constantly hammered as foundational to the Nation.  Problem is that we have two sets of rules and standards with respect to many societal practices, one set for the “swells”, one set for the rest of us. That is truly perverse.
