Woke up America!

There was a time with the verb “woke” simply meant the end of sleep as in “I just woke up”. Not so much anymore. In the current vernacular it means, according to the urban dictionary, “the act of being very pretentious about how much you care about a social issue”.

Now in the media there’s a lot of concern about what should be done about with the 74 million Trump supporters – a major social issue to the left leaning progressive Democrats, especially in the wake of the January 6 riot/insurrection at the Capital building.

Despite the increasing evidence that the perpetrators were on the far side of both political spectrums, that there was advance planning and chatter on Facebook, and that the actual attack started before President Trump finished his speech, the negative drum beat continues against his supporters.  Calls for deprogramming his supporters from the “Cult of Trump”, have been made by leftist news readers, including high-profile media personality, Katie Couric. Katie, welcome to Loonville.

It doesn’t stop with her, this nonsense is being pushed in the mainstream media and by some members of the incoming Biden Administration.  Have any of these “woke” nitwits ever heard of Stalinist Russia, Nazi Germany or even Maduro’s Venezuela?

Michael Beller, former PBS attorney fired for comparing Trump to Hitler, was caught in an recently released video suggesting Republican voters should have their children put in re-education camps, "Even if Biden wins, we go for all the Republican voters and Homeland Security will take their children away...What do you think about that?...and we'll put them in re-education camps.” It gives one pause that this kind of “woke” thinking even exists.

Then there’s Democrat Congressman Steven Cohen (Tennessee) who commented on CNN that the 25,000 troops in Washington, DC should be vetted as most of them are white and probably voted for Trump. This social issue is a clear and present danger, he opined, to the new President. All this dummy needs is a red nose, a colorful wig and some goofy footwear, because he is actually a clown. What was truly sad about his ridiculous assertions, there was absolutely no pushback from the CNN host.  

The media narrative that somehow those who supported the soon to be former President are not “woke” enough is frightening. It speaks to a movement that smacks of a one-party group think, one demanding loyalty to Biden and Harris. 

A reminder, last February Joe Biden finished fifth in the New Hampshire primary after his fourth-place finish in Iowa. Kamala Harris dropped out of the presidential sweepstakes in December of 2019, polling at 4%. 

The media has created a bandwagon effect that these two are the greatest leaders since Gandhi and Churchill. Where was this tub thumping for these two last February? They hardly command the unquestioned fealty the media demands after the controversial November election. Respect is earned and cannot be demanded.

Now there’s a defined campaign to cure the absence of “wokeness” in conservative media outlets.  There are calls that the up-and-coming cable broadcast news sources like NewsMax and OAN be sanctioned by the FCC.  This coming from CNN and MSNBC. Old reliable Fox News has not escaped their wrath. Apparently, if they’re not towing the new Administration line regarding their policies of renewed social engineering or labeling the country as systemically racist, those networks need re-programming or de-programming.  Democracy is under assault by elements within the country that don’t subscribe to the provisions of the First Amendment.

The woke lunatics have weaseled their way into the fabric of the country’s society in a stealth like manner that only now is being exposed.  The curriculums in public schools and universities are, and have been slowly modified to reflect a revisionist view of America’s history, more fitting to their Socialist agenda. Last summer there were statues and monuments under assault by hostile elements who sought the obfuscation of actual National history. A statue of Thomas Jefferson could be offensive since he was a slave holder. Slavery was offensive but removing an un-woke statue or eliminating Jefferson from a history doesn’t change the past. 

Woke up America?

The Left’s clarion call for wokeness does not serve this Nation’s best interests. Americans are better served when the Frist Amendment of the Constitution is revered and considered “woke”.
