A New Sheriff
On Inauguration Day, the country got a new Sheriff, Joe Biden. Unlike the welcome Sherriff Bart got riding into the town of Rock Ridge in Mel Brooks’ classic Blazing Saddles, Joe was welcomed with media coverage that was over the top gushy and sappy. The elites seated on the west side of the Capitol building for the transition, were giddy as schoolgirls attending their first high school dance.
The partisan nature of the coverage was outrageously blatant on all the usual outlets. On CNN and MSNBC, everyone from news anchors to their so-called sagacious pundits openly mocked the outgoing President while publicly praising the incoming Biden Administration.
Biden spoke for 21 minutes in a speech that one commentator, Chris Wallace, said was the greatest inaugural speech he’d ever heard. The rhetoric was so soaring that the cameras caught former President Bill Clinton nodding off. Sadly, the wordsmith who crafted this gem for the new President couldn’t come up with one memorable line or phrase that will be quoted for years. Anyone remember, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." Spoken 60 years ago but still great today. Nothing even close to that in Joe’s speech.
The newly inaugurated President moved on to the White House to sign some new Executive Orders. None of them benefit the citizens in the slightest. President Biden stayed true to form and pandered to the most radical, out of touch progressives in his support base.
He cancelled the Keystone XL Pipeline permit, and 11,000 union jobs were killed. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau was immediately angered, and thew probability of higher energy prices was forecast. It solidifies the impossibility of energy independence and risks our economic competitiveness.
Another order mandated that the United States rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement, which is completely unenforceable, but gives the climate change activists influence to end clean coal energy and other fossil fuels that generate electricity.
A new Executive Order signed by Biden, requires colleges receiving federal funding to allow biological males who identify as female, to compete on women's sports teams, have access to women's locker rooms, etc.
This is pro-woman? It’s a destructive, malicious and seriously inane policy. Brilliant move Joe! What was he thinking? He wasn’t. Just pandering to a portion of his radical leftist base.
Biden put an end to border wall construction, in spite of evidence that drug smuggling and illegal entry to the country has decreased as a result of the wall. The impetus for building the wall was not Trump’s, but the Border Patrol agents who suggested it. The White House and US Capitol are surrounded by fences, 25,000 National Guardsman as protectors, and the new President halts the building of the southern border wall? The irony is mind boggling.
There were a least 17 Orders that were executed. Look them up. How does any of this help Americans? There wasn’t one that can be identified as directed at everyday folks. Even the directives he signed regarding COVID-19 were not unique but coopted from the previous Administration’s set policies
Strangely, even with their new President, the Progressive Liberals are still just as miserable and vindictive as ever. Emblematic of this is Smith College Professor Loretta Ross, an instructor who specializes in women’s and gender studies, who scorned calls for unity. Instead, she called for punitive action against Trump supporters in Congress, universities, and those who hold “regular” jobs. This is not an isolated educator. These Marxists are more prevalent in academia than actually reported. A side note, tuition, room and board at Smith currently is about $71,000 per year. Money well spent? Hardly.
So, if you’re a rich, progressive, liberal Hollywood celebrity today’s Democratic party is the perfect home for you.
On the other hand, if you’re blue-collar, belong to a union, or you work in the energy business, not so much. There is far too much early evidence, notwithstanding their incantations about the “working man”, that the new Sheriff and his Deputies don’t give two hoots in Hades about the general health and well-being of ordinary Americans.
There are four things the new Sheriff can do for healing and unity, the next time he gets in front of his trusty teleprompter: 1) State that the Senate impeachment trial of former President Trump should be shut down; 2) Put an end to the left-wing violence attributed to Antifa and BLM; 3) Call out domestic violence from the right, then the left as they deserves equal treatment. Finally, Biden needs to take on Big Tech and their censorship of opinions, conservative or otherwise.
Sheriff Bart could pull this off, he was adroit and smart, but the jury is still out on the new guy, Sheriff Joe.
