Get A Grip
As we travel through the “pandemic/China Flu/WuHan Flu/COVID-19” crises, some elements and actions happening in our Republic are increasingly nonsensical. It’s time for the Nation to get a grip and stop acting like wandering sheep without the benefit of a Border Collie.
For example, as if California doesn’t already have a national reputation as the land of radical loons, that characterization was solidified by the King of Looneyville, California: Governor Gavin Newsome. Gavin and The Gang published, through the California Department of Health, definitive guidelines for a traditional family Thanksgiving get-together. A few of the highlights:
No more than three households, including your own can attend. The dinner is to be held outside with everyone sitting at least 6 feet apart. Guests may use the indoor bathroom only if it is frequently sanitized. Masks must be worn, unless one is eating, at all times and dinner should last no longer than two hours. Singing is discouraging unless you are wearing a mask and using a soft voice. Folks, you can’t make this nonsense up. Get a grip.
Another example, we have a Presidential candidate whose campaign theme is that we are headed into a dark, dangerous winter as the pandemic case count rises. COVID. COVID. COVID. Morning, noon and night, a shameful diatribe of fear mongering over a stubborn virus that has infected an entire world. It has resisted all manner of world government health strategies, including a total shutdown of our national economy, which didn’t work. Joe, this isn’t something that one world leader has solved. The only leader you should blame is not President Trump, but your pal, Xi Jinping, President of China who is responsible for this disease spreading throughout the planet.
No one has bothered to consider that the number of reported cases in the United States is increasing because of our extensive testing, more than anywhere in the world. A lot of the cases are asymptomatic, thus no medication or hospitalization. Let’s also remember that according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) 99.5% of those infected, under 70 years old, survive. The rate is 95.5% survival for those over 70 years old. Those who do pass away, have a contributing underlying morbidity. This health panic is destroying the fabric of the Nation, by amplifying the unfounded fear that “everybody’s gonna die” from COVID-19. Get a grip, the data doesn’t support the narrative.
And there’s more thought foolishness, that’s weaving into our daily routines. A belief that the Joe Biden can get the pandemic under control? That’s like thinking you can cross the Grand Canyon at night with a flickering flashlight. Noted epidemiologist, Bill Gates of Microsoft fame, has suggested that listening to the solutions offered by Stanford Dr. Charles Atlas Stanford is not worthwhile but Joe Biden and Dr. Fauci have the answers. Please. Someone, anyone, name a world leader with a successful strategy for defeating the virus. There isn’t one leader who has. It will take a treatment regime coupled with vaccine get thru this. Get a grip.
Some have opined that the national spine is not steel but now Jell-o. Baloney. That is a possibility, if we collectively listen to the propaganda disguised as news that hammers us every day and believe it. Even worse, would be to believe these fear-mongering narratives spewed by the media syncopates, who selectively parse what is heard or seen over the airwaves, without respect to truth or fact. It is decidedly unhealthy to be continually battered by the partisan rhetoric disguised as news. Do your own research, develop your own sources, do the work, Get a grip.
The similarity of the dystopian society described in the novel, 1984 by George Orwell, and what’s happening now in our Republic is frightening. Allowing the rights that we’ve inherited from our forefathers to be trampled on, over a solvable, curable flu virus, is astonishingly foolish. Open the country, put children back in school, attend religious services if you like, and wear a mask if want to, but by all means, get a grip!
