The Internet Musketeers

This week, Jack Dorsey, Mark Zuckerberg and Sundar Pichai (CEOs of Twitter, Facebook and Google) appeared before the Senate Commerce Committee to answer charges that they selectively censor conservative voices on their respective internet platforms.

Naturally, the liberal media cried foul, that they were being unnecessarily persecuted because the Republicans feared that Joe Biden is running away with the election. A false flag, democrats claimed.  Never mind that these hearings came about because a New York Post story concerning Hunter Biden’s laptop and the contents therein, pointed to a web of corruption rarely seen in American politics at the highest levels of government.

So, when the story broke and was linked on the various media platforms, it was killed like a bug hitting a windshield.  Thus, the outcry from Republicans for an investigation into these unilaterally capricious activities. Who are these guys? One by one, here’s what our country is dealing with.

Jack Dorsey, Twitter CEO, looked like Charlie Manson’s long-lost son when seen during his virtual testimony.  Sporting a goatee/beard that would make a Mullah proud, he could be the American version of an internet Taliban leader.

Jack was definitely in a zone as he obfuscated and danced around answering the questions fired at him by various Senators.  Why no, he stated, we don’t censor free speech. “We believe it’s important for everyone to hear from global leaders. We want to make sure that we are respecting their right to speak and to publish what they need.” Bullshot, Jack. Twitter has censored the President’s account 65 times, Biden 0 times and amazingly 0 times for the Ayatollah Khomeini of Iran, who tweeted “Death to Israel”.  That’s seems fair, Jack?

Moving on to Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, who featured a nice suit and tie but looked like he was in a hostage video. Here’s a guy who created a platform, initially designed as a dating application. Because, when dating, Mark couldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat.  We all know the story, now he’s worth zillions and currently an irritant to the residents of Kauai.  He’s buying up the prime beach front property for his family and no one else.

When confronted with the fact that Facebook’s Election Integrity Expert was a staffer when Joe Biden served as Vice President, he answered, “I think having a balance is valuable. We try to do that. I am not aware of the example of someone in charge of this process who worked for Biden.” Come on, Man. The vast majority of his employees are not conservatives or independents.  That’s a documented fact. Balance? Baloney!

Last but certainly not least is Sundar Pichai, Google CEO, an Indian immigrant who has realized the American dream, but sadly has no clue what the First Amendment of the Constitution is all about.  He must have missed that class at Stanford. He sounded like that guy you talk to when calling technical support, who’s smarter than you and somewhat disdainful that you called.

No political bias here he declared, “To do otherwise would be contrary to both our business interests and our mission, which compels us to make information accessible to every type of person, no matter where they live or what they believe.”  That’s all fine and well, a high-minded sentiment by Pichai.  So how come when you pose a political search question on Google, your algorithms are designed such, that one is directed to the most liberal leftist sites? Sundar not all of us were born last night. What complete crap speak.

Watch the Movie, The Social Dilemma, for a keen understanding of the power of social media and the internet search engines.  After viewing it, you will question everything you read online.  Good.  Folks shouldn’t take for granted that what they read online is the gospel truth.  Remember the algorithms are designed to direct you, based on past searches and history to web sites, that may fit your belief system or alter it.

An important lesson from "The Social Dilemma" is that we should question everything we read online, especially if it is presented to us in a way that reflects a detailed understanding of our inclinations and preferences. Search engines are NOT neutral and are NOT designed to be. Engines make money from advertisers who pay to have their sites pop up before others in a search. Social media can seem friendly and reinforcing, but too often we are learning that it creates self-worth and life status issues when folks compare themselves to those appearing to live ‘La Dolce Vita’ in their online posts.

Senator Ted Cruz hit the nail on the head when he said to the Twitter CEO, "Mr. Dorsey, who the hell elected you and put you in charge of what the media are allowed to report and what the American people are allowed to hear?"

That question applies to Mark and Sundar as well.  It’s time for these mega-wealthy dweebs to be held accountable. They shouldn’t be the most powerful men in the world…ever.
