Martha’s Vineyard

If you happen to have some discretionary dollars and are in the Northeastern United States, a trip to Martha’s Vineyard is a must. This liberal retreat off the coast of Massachusetts is idyllic in the summer and early fall. You’ll have a chance to grab a lobster roll and have some great clam “chow-duh”. World class accommodations are the norm. Nothing like being where you have an opportunity to rub elbows with the “Swells”. The possibility of running into residents like the Obamas, David Letterman or James Taylor is exciting.

The average household income on this relaxing island summer retreat is $132,657 and rental retreat properties are abundant for extended stays…unless you are a “migrant” flown in from Florida. In that case you are as welcome as bubonic plague. When 50 or so illegals showed up on the island, courtesy of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a world record was set for the clutching of pearls. They were tossed off faster than a Survivor show contestant.

The caterwauling coming from the progressive left was astonishing.  These are the same folks who repeatedly referred to former President Trump as a racist bigot for building a wall to secure the Nation’s southern border. Never mind that when 53 illegals were found suffocated in a tractor trailer truck in Bexar County Texas, not a peep from these so-called humanitarians nor were there days of coverage from the corporate media.  By the way, the Democrat Sheriff of Bexar County is opening an investigation of Governor DeSantis for human trafficking.  You cannot make up this kind of stupidity. Look it up.

In Eagle Pass, Texas, ground zero of the illegal invasion, the median household income is $46,005. Evidently the residents one of the richest places in the country think that the folks in Texas are better able to accommodate the illegals. If they are unable, no problem, because Joe has been flying “migrants” all over the country in the dead of night for months. Local communities are caught unaware until the planes land and drop off their human cargo.

The failure to uphold current immigration laws, highlighted by the Florida Governor’s decision to spread the wealth, was a savvy political move. It has brought an unwelcomed amount of publicity to the leftist elites. Their compassionate sanctuary movement is built on high-minded blather. But there is liberal hypocrisy rather than empathy when poor illegal immigrants show up in their upper-class havens. NIMBYism (Not in my Back Yard) is in full bloom and the corporate media has a real tough time reporting it, instead choosing to blame the border states for the problems, not the failure to enforce the law.  Just unbelievable.

Why is the liberal progressive media angry about this “migrant” drop off? Everyone knows that Martha’s Vineyard isn’t as hot as south Texas or as humid as Florida in the summer. They should be reporting that these visitors are not baking away in the desert but luxuriating in the soft summer breezes of the coastal island. Fat chance on that. There is no doubt that unfortunate, impoverished people are being used to score political points by both sides.  But the left has no business claiming to be as pure as wind driven snow.

There would be no discussion of this ongoing human tragedy if the President of the United States had the stones to enforce the laws he was sworn to uphold on January 20, 2021. He won’t do that until his teleprompter tells him, or he faces impeachment proceedings for not adhering to his oath. Pigs will fly before either occurrence.

The latest piece of absurd news is that two of the illegals are suing DeSantis, alleging cruelty akin to what they suffered in their native country.  Obviously egged on by some progressive lunatic attorney, these two are again being used by the left.  Never mind that when the “migrants” left Martha’s Vineyard they had new clothes and cell phones. Of course that fact will be conveniently left out of the reportage by the usual mainstream media progressive honkers.

Meanwhile the residents of Martha’s Vineyard can rest easy, having gifted the illegals some swell departure stuff. They can be confident that hordes of undocumented tourists will not descend on their island thanks to the Massachusetts National Guard and Governor Charlie Baker…a Republican.

Maybe Charlie forgot that the original immigrants landed at Plymouth Rock….Massachusetts.
