Four Weeks

Three significant events occurred last week while IntheNews-Simplyput.com was on holiday, a Supreme Court Justice was nominated, a raucous Presidential debate happened, and the President was hospitalized with a case of the China Flu. All these events will influence the Presidential election in four weeks.

Amy Coney Barrett, a federal appellate judge and Notre Dame law professor was nominated by the President to fill the Supreme Court seat of the late Justice Ginsburg. Immediately the progressive left went bananas.  One would think that the President had picked the female judicial equivalent of Darth Vader.  The caterwauling reached hysterical levels over her Catholic beliefs that may interfere with her ability to judge any abortion issue that comes before the Court. Does anyone remember this kind of outrage when Catholic Justice Sonia Sotomayor was nominated by President Obama? Judge Barrett’s treatment in the media since her nomination has been criminal, at the least.

She has seven children, two adopted from Haiti, and her youngest biological child has special needs. Because she and her husband adopted two black children, years ago, she has been accused of being a colonizer (a derogatory term mainly used against white people or white racists) and even worse, a member of Catholic cult.  Again, the left, led by the likes of Senators Mazie Hirono and Kamala Harris seek to destroy her reputation and credentials. Does anyone know if Hirono or Harris finished first in their law schools like Judge Barrett? The answer is no.

Then there was the Presidential debate.  Let’s start with the challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden. He was making faces, rolling his eyes, interrupting the president with laughs and jabs, long-winded at times, and name calling the President of the United States. Can you imagine if John McCain or Mitt Romney during their debates, called President Barack Obama a "clown" and told him to "shut up"? The media would have gone bonkers demanding that they be perp walked off the debate stage. Joe got a pass on his behavior from the media and the moderator…not so much for the President.

Admittedly President Trump was no saint, he did interrupt and badger Joe, particularly when he would not answer some critical questions. Biden wouldn’t say whether he would pack the Supreme Court with more justices, tilting it liberal. Said he couldn’t call any Democrat leader where the “peaceful protestors” were running amuck, asking them to restore law and order to their streets, because he wasn’t in “office”. He refused to explain why his son, Hunter Biden, received 3.5 million dollars from the Moscow mayor’s wife while he was Vice President. Said it never happened but it has been documented. Finally, he claimed that Antifa, the radical organization that is responsible for a lot of the rioting, is an “idea” not a real group. He’s not “Sleepy Joe”, he’s “Clueless Joe”. Everyone knows that after four years in office, the President is a counter-puncher and often had forced his way into the debate, to address Biden’s list of attacks as the moderator, Chris Wallace of Fox News didn’t give him opportunities to reply, but chose to debate him as well.

Wonder why the American public doesn't trust the media, just re-watch Chris Wallace's fair and balanced performance as moderator. Hardly a career highlight for him. The next debate is a Town Hall forum, and the moderator is a former intern for Joe Biden.  That’s fair?

To cap off the week, the President tested positive for the Wuhan Flu, the China virus, COVID-19. He was admitted to Walter Reed Hospital for treatment and spent 3 days there.  Naturally the hate Trump media had a field day.  The President is a super spreader they cried, the west wing of the White house is a hotbed of infection, the secret service agents are in danger because he rode in an armored Chevrolet Suburban to wave at and thank supporters outside the hospital. Do these knuckleheads have any idea how he got to the hospital? He flew in an enclosed helicopter and the then rode in the same suburban with secret service agents. Was he supposed to rent a car and drive himself to and from Walter Reed?

The utter stupidity of the media is astounding and should give one pause.  When he returned home after treatment, he saluted the crew of Marine One, praised the hospital staff in a brief speech after taking his mask off, while standing on the south portico of the White House. He also asked that citizens not let fear of the virus rule their lives.  Rather than be gracious about his recovery, the press lost their collective minds about his mask less speech and his message. In the NBC “infomercial like” Town Hall televised Monday night, did any member of the press go nuts because Joe took his mask off to speak?  Were any members of the press disappointed that he got an hour of softball questions of no substance?

A President once said. “The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself.” Can you imagine the reaction of today’s press to such a shocking statement, had President Trump said that about the pandemic? He has repeatedly stated that the most vulnerable should be protected and yesterday said, “Don’t let it dominate your lives. Get out there, be careful.” What’s wrong with that advice? The national press is compliant in keeping Americans frightened. That is the real danger the country faces, not the virus.
