Showing Up
Protests about the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) are sprouting up all over the country. Seems that there are a bunch of civil service employees who are upset that their jobs are going to be cut based on what they do or don’t do. News Flash! Working for the Federal government is not a guarantee of lifetime employment. It should be no different than working in the private sector. Keeping a job is based on your productivity and value to the entity that pays your wages.
These protests are well coordinated and funded by George Soros and his MoveOn.org operators. Sharp-eyed investigators have discovered this phony effort by his group. How else can there be an accounting for multiple hand carried signs with the same message throughout the Nation? Their strategy consists of street protests coordinated with the sympathetic legacy media reporting. Furthermore, targeting Congressional town hall meetings is included in their plan.
Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) held a town hall about the DOGE in the Georgia Republican's deep-red district. It was chaotic, as reported by the New York Times, Washington Post, and CBS News. They cited the scene as proof of emerging bipartisan "backlash" over Elon Musk's efforts to slash government spending. Except, there was one major problem with this meeting. A local gadfly progressive democrat Maggie Goldman, who described herself only as a McCormick constituent, recruited a room full of like-minded folks to disrupt the proceedings. She supported Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign in 2019 and 2020. MoveOn.org was instrumental in helping her coordinate this farce.
Evidence is abundant that the Federal government is bloated, looking a lot like Jabba the Hut from Star Wars. There are too many people doing unnecessary or redundant jobs. That means layoffs and terminations are needed. When Joe Biden cancelled the Keystone Pipeline, the day he was inaugurated, were there mass protests or members of congress carrying on like what is seen today? Thousands of workers lost their jobs and Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a White House briefing that, “those workers should learn to code”.
Every night, the nightly news features laid off government workers caterwauling that they didn’t deserve to lose their job. Yet videos have surfaced of workers saying they can get a job in the private sector but won’t make as much. The average salary of a federal employee is $106,462 well above the $61,984 average earned for a non-federal worker. No wonder these civil service workers are crying the blues. For the last four years they have been “working” from home and collecting the large.
Newly appointed SBA (Small Business Administration) Chief Kelly Loeffler toured her offices with a cameraman in tow, showing cubicle after cubical empty. Her agency employs over 4,000 people, and they are at home in their jammies. Nice work if you can get it…and think again about the average pay these federal workers are getting!
A quote widely attributed to Woody Allen is “90% of life is showing up”. Just being where you’re supposed to be. A lot of Federal workers don’t think that they need to show up, but are so entitled that they believe they are effective working from home. Has there ever been a case in the private sector where an employee could arbitrarily stay home and “work”? Just ask Jamie Dimon CEO of JP Morgan Chase, who mandated that everyone be in the office or else. Folks showed up, there were no politicians pleading their cases and nobody was picketing the headquarters of JP Morgan Chase.
There should not be a double standard for employment. Working for the government does not give anyone superior status or job security. Last week Meta (Facebook) announced that over 3,600 workers would be laid off. Last year 10,000 were furloughed. Not one of them was featured on the national legacy media.
Employers, government or private, should run competently. Just “showing up” does not contribute to that goal.
That’s the cold, burning truth.
