Snollygosters
A snollygoster is a shrewd or unprincipled person. Also, it’s slang for a politician who cares more for personal gain than serving the people. The word was used by President Truman to describe congressional politicians in the 1950s. No doubt that Harry was spot on and not much has changed since then. Today, the folks can find snollygosters in political, media and entertainment sectors.
Starting with CNN anchor Jake Tapper who has co-authored a new book, "Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again," which is set to be released in the next week or so. For years this liberal, progressive media honk has vigorously avoided reporting the cognitive decline of Joe Biden. He’s not the only one throwing shade on the issue.
In September 2023, Tapper asserted that Biden was mentally "sharp" while discussing former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley’s demand that cognitive tests be mandatory for older politicians. Tapper said that questions swirling around the President were only about whether he was physically able to do the job. So why did you write the book Jake?
When Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was recently interviewed by Kasi Hunt of CNN regarding Joe Bidens cognitive health, she asked him the following question. “You sat next to Biden in the Oval Office. Did you really not have any idea that he was not fit to serve a second term?”
Schumer refused to directly answer and instead pivoted to criticize the Republican-led Reconciliation Bill. “Kasie, we’re looking forward,” he said, repeating the phrase multiple times as Hunt attempted to follow up. Is Chuck shrewd or unprincipled or both?
Throughout the legacy media it’s not a stretch to find snollygosters working as on-air news readers or copy writers. It’s no wonder that President Trump refers to them as “fake” news, as he recently referred to an ABC reporter’s stupid question in the Oval Office. It was regarding the 747-8 that Qatar was giving the United States while waiting for Boeing to get its act together on the two replacement 747-8s that they are building.
The latest individual to fit in this category is rocker Bruce Springsteen. This near billionaire gave a rant in England, while on his latest tour to fatten his wallet. Talking trash about your home country when overseas is rich. The 75-year-old rocker offered the following to his adoring fans.
“In my home, the America I love, the America I’ve written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.”
Obviously, Bruce thinks that the Biden regime was the most principled presidency in American history. Never mind the now revealed grifting of the Biden family including the “Big Guy”. Forget about the out-of-control spending and corruption that is coming to light daily by the clowns using the “auto-pen” to sign bills and directives that enriched the FOBs (Friends Of Biden) Some advice for “The Boss” as he’s known, shut up and sing, and stay in your lane.
Recent polls regarding trust in politicians and the media reveal that the folks are more dubious than ever regarding their credulity. Who’s surprised? There’s an old saying, "You can fool some of the people all the time, and all the people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all the time". The expression is often attributed to Abraham Lincoln.
Abe wasn’t a snollygoster.
