The EV Myth
There’s a mother lode of news that for one reason or another is not being shared with the Nation on a widescale basis. These stories are usually one and done, but nevertheless are important as they affect lives. Here’s one for your consideration.
The recent cold snap in the Midwest, notably Chicago, exposed a widely under reported fact concerning the performance of EVs (Electric Vehicles). They don’t charge or perform in cold weather. Those owners who bought them to save the planet, get off fossil fuel or just wanted to appear woke were shocked. Seems that the weather conditions were such that charging stations failed and the lithium-ion batteries were too cold to accept a charge.
Noted climate loon John Kerry, who speaks for the Biden Regime on the matter of climate change could not explain this EV phenomenon except that the planet is in danger from excess CO2 emissions. Say what John? Someone tell this elite private jet setter that CO2 is absorbed by plants and converted into oxygen through a process called photosynthesis. Obviously, Kerry didn’t do well in his high school biology class.
Proof that EVs are a bust with consumers was Ford Motor Company’s recent decision to cut its production of the EV Lightning 150 Pickup truck in half. The demand isn’t evident as dealer inventories aren’t selling. Sadly, Joe Biden keeps tub thumping that the EV is a boom to American auto workers and received the endorsement of Kevin Fain the UAW President, for President. Fain later admitted that most of his union members probably won’t vote for Joe. Wonder why? Inflation, cost of groceries, gas and housing have all increased dramatically under the Biden Regime.
The union guys know that the Chinese Communists are working night and day to dominate the EV market and are doing quite well in Europe and Asia. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in a recent earnings call, “The Chinese car companies are the most competitive car companies in the world. So, I think they will have significant success outside of China depending on what kind of tariffs or trade barriers are established. Frankly, I think, if there are not trade barriers established, they will pretty much demolish most other companies in the world.” American Auto workers keenly aware of the threat to their jobs. The elites pushing EVs are painfully ignorant with respect to blue collar intelligence.
An EV has a place in today’s transportation menu but should not be the sole choice for the consumer. You won’t find a Ford Lighting 150 on the farm or ranch as the preferred pick up for Farmer Ted. Farmers and Ranchers know that if you run out of fuel all you need is a 5 gallon can of gasoline not a 3000-foot extension cord. An EV makes sense in an urban environment for modest work commutes and errands…if you can afford the current average sales price of $50,863, according to Kelly Blue Book.
With that in mind, saving the planet from climate change will not be the result of EV’s. The greatest polluters of the atmosphere are the world’s volcanoes. Look it up. There are not enough solar panels and windmills that will generate electricity to power all the charging stations needed.
So be clear eyed when assessing the need for an EV. They aren’t for everyone.
