The Washington Laundry
Last year at the height of the pandemic an internationally known California restaurant, The French Laundry, made headlines as the site of an indoor dinner attended by the California Governor Gavin Newsom and some of his deep pocketed donor/lobbyist pals. Unfortunately, The Washington Laundry isn’t a world class restaurant. It’s an apt description for a sneaky method of moving “dark” money to secure influence in government circles. Enter that well know, celebrated artist Hunter Biden, whose father happens to be the current President of the United States.
Seems that Hunter will be selling his “art” through a New York gallery, prices ranging from $75,000 to $500,000 per painting. Normally that would raise eyebrows but here’s the catch, for ball the buyers who purchase Hunter Biden's art, their identities will remain hidden/private.
Walter Shaub, former director of Obama’s Office of Government Ethics, in a CNN interview stated that the process of selling Hunter’s artwork will create the “perfect mechanism” for bribing President Biden. He further said, “I mean, they have outsourced government ethics to an art dealer. She (Presidential Press Secretary Jen Psaki) mentioned industry standards. It’s an industry that’s notorious for money laundering. There’re no standards in that industry, and the idea that they’re going to flag any overly priced offers, well this is art that hasn’t even been juried into a community art sale.”
The Washington Post this week revealed that the Biden Administration created this deal with a New York gallery. For the Post, a notorious water bearer for the Biden regime, to report this breach of ethical conduct is nothing short of miraculous. This was the genesis for CNN’s Alisyn Camerota interview with Walter Schaub.,
Make no mistake “The Washington Laundry” has been in business for years but the mere fact that there’s no outrage about the amount of money to be paid for the works of a man with no previously known artistic talent is mind-blowing. A fierce critic of the Trump Administration, CBS News' Weijia Jiang did ask Jen Psaki during the daily press briefing about whether the White House had "any role in crafting the sales agreement with the NY Gallery to hide the identity of people”. Without missing a beat, Psaki confirmed it was out of a need for "reasonable safeguards". Huh?
Hunter Biden’s art sale, expected to commence this fall, is not without potential challenges. Daily revelations regarding the contents of his Apple laptop confirmed his activities, trading on his father’s name with business deals in several countries. Naturally these releases coming from the New York Post and other outlets are widely ignored by the usual suspects. Surprised? His latest scam is in a field where art does not have a defined fixed value and is further acerbated when there are concerns about secret buyers paying undisclosed sums. A perfect conduit to launder money and perhaps curry favor by helping the President’s son whose book sales left him destitute. Not really.
Evidently the Beltway press reasons that Joe would not give special treatment to his son because he’s not the reprobate they made Donald Trump out to be. That kind of naiveté is disingenuous at the least, but in fact a display of world class stupidity. If Joe thinks his ethics program is on the up and up, believing that everybody behaves, especially his 51-year-old slacker son, then why do we have ethics guidelines and laws in the first place for the politically connected and powerful?
Watching Pinocchio Psaki obfuscate and dance around this latest Hunter scandal is a perfect primer for those who want to learn the nuances of bending and shaping a narrative. She does this with a skill set that a cat covering poop would admire.
If you ever find yourself in the Nation’s capital, no need to look for a restaurant named “The Washington Laundry”. Although it might be a good idea for someone to open one, and let all this corrupt activity with influencers, lobbyists and bribers occur in the open.
Nah, that will never happen.
