Trial of the Century
The last “Trial of the Century” was the spectacle featuring OJ Simpson who most think murdered his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Now early in the 21st Century there is a new one, brought by progressive Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg against former President Donald Trump. Seems Alvin has cobbled together 34 felony charges for falsifying business records regarding the hush money payment to a porn star Stormy Daniels nearly eight years ago. Alvin has bent and twisted the statutes, turning one low level beef misdemeanor into the crime of the century. Political prosecution taken to a new height. It’s called “lawfare”. Perhaps someone should tell Alvin that maybe Stormy Daniels was blackmailing Trump.
If anyone believes that Trump will get a fair trial in New York, chances are they also believe that the Titanic made a round trip. There's no way he gets a fair trial in New York given the jury will consist of folks from a town that voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden. Further, the judge Juan Merchan is a verifiable Biden supporter who has contributed financially to his campaign. But it gets worse, his daughter Loren Merchan who runs Authentic Campaigns, is a Democrat operative who has raised millions for Democrat office seekers including Rep. Adam Schiff. It’s estimated that her firm has been instrumental in raising 93 million dollars just off the Trump trials.
Juan should have recused himself from presiding over this trial. The venue should have been changed from Manhattan to anywhere in New York where a less conflicted fair jury pool could be found. None of that happened. He may well be convicted in New York City. Then it will be appealed first in the New York State Supreme Court which probably won't overturn the disgraceful verdict and then it will end up in the federal court system where he will finally get relief.
This trial is a farce according to noted democrat legal scholars like Alan Dershowitz and Jonathan Turley. These two are not Trump acolytes, but respected constitutional experts who have both opined on the contrived nature of the charges which have amazed them. Turley stated the following. "This is a Frankenstein case. They took a dead misdemeanor; they attached it to a dead alleged federal felony and zapped it back into life. Many of us are just amazed to watch this actually walk into court because it's not a recognizable crime that any of us have seen." Harvard Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz says the hush money case against former President Trump is the most "made-up crime" he has seen in his career.
Former Attorney General William Barr, no fan of Trump, stated recently said that the trial involving the former President is an “abomination”. When asked by a Fox News anchor about the trial, Mr. Barr said that the case is “obviously political”. He noted that, “The real threat to liberty, the real threat to our system, are the excesses of the progressive left. They are perverting the system of justice and that’s where the danger lies. The corruption and subversion of our institutions by the left.”
Meanwhile President Biden is wandering (campaigning) around Pennsylvania telling tall tales about the economy and his family. The economy is great, and his uncle may have been the victim of cannibals when his plane shot down in New Guinea during World War Two. The economy is not great, and the aircraft was actually lost at sea according to the Pentagon. Where does he come up with this baloney?
The principal tactic of the Democratic Party is to paint Donald Trump as a tyrant who will trash the Constitution and impose a fascist government on the Nation. There is no evidence that he violated any tenets of the Constitution while he was in office.
Also, he will grant tax cuts to the wealthy that will enrich them and hurt the ordinary folks. This is what the message is, ad nauseum, from the Biden campaign. What hogwash. Even the dimmest of lights among us know that food and energy were cheaper when Trump was President, that illegal immigrant crime wasn’t rampant and there were no wars.
Americans are wising up every day to what a bunch of weasels the four prosecutors conducting cases against former President Trump are. It’s a shame that the Nation must witness their desperate legal assaults on him to preserve the reelection chances of a man who doesn’t know if it’s Tuesday or Saturday.
If anybody has a doubt about the two-tiered justice system that’s evolved in the Nation, look no further than the absence on action on Hunter Biden’s tax evasion case and illegal gun possession charges or the stolen secret documents found Joe’s Delaware garage. Then compared those cases with the furious “lawfare” pursuit of former President Trump.
This Trial of the Century is, as former Attorney General Barr stated, an abomination.
