Unless you’ve been living on the dark side of the moon, you are now fully aware that our fearless leaders have once again taken draconian actions to save Californians from the China pandemic. Somehow these clowns, yes clowns, think that shuttering the local hair and nail salons, closing all indoor and outdoor dining, along with limiting the number of folks in retail outlets will be the nail in the coffin of the Wuhan flu. Seems that this has been tried before. How’d that work out?
A video of a restaurant owner in Sherman Oaks has gone viral. In it the owner of the Pineapple Hill Saloon & Grill, Angela Marsden, calls out the disingenuous mayor of Los Angeles for imposing a lockdown on her establishment while allowing a movie company to keep its outdoor dining facilities open, right next to doors. This is the concise definition of political hypocrisy. Naturally Mayor Garcetti issued a statement expressing his profound sympathy for her plight but had to account for all the citizens of Los Angeles and their safety. Pot, meet Kettle.
Meanwhile in New York, on Staten Island, the owner of Mac’s Public House was arrested for serving beer and cheeseburgers, as his business is a couple of hundred yards inside the “super spreader” zone designated by the state. The state in its infinite wisdom, led by that pandemic fighting genius Governor Andrew Cuomo, divided the island in half. Mac’s is barely on the “super spreader” half. Yeah right. Neighboring establishments are open and thriving.
For months Speaker Nancy Pelosi has held up a relief package because it wasn’t big enough to suit her agenda. Now she is willing to settle for a far smaller package proposed by the Republicans because as she said, “Joe Biden will be our new President”. She played with the citizens well-being to advance her agenda, not wanting Trump to get credit for the relief package. How in the world does this kind of leader exist or get elected?
Elsewhere in the DC swamp, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar paid her husband 3 million dollars as a political consultant to her campaign. What is more disturbing is that his company, E Street Group, got $134,000 PPP funds and $500,000 in disaster relief funds from the government as a result of the pandemic. Small businesses throughout the nation are suffering and this insider, ol’ boy, back scratching baloney remains largely unreported in the media. The sleaze resident in DC is appalling. Yet the media continues to wonder why Americans think the presidential election was corrupt.
As a result of this growing distrust of the Democrat Mayors and Governors ordering shutdowns, small business owners across the nation are defying the closures. Some are citing the Constitutional right guaranteeing the freedom of assembly, mentioning that pronouncements from those same leaders regarding peaceful protests would not be subject to restriction. Dining in or outdoors, could then be considered a “peaceful protest”. Big Box retailers are lax in enforcing the ordered 20% occupancy rule so far. Large fitness centers are closed, smaller operations are going rogue.
Admiral Brett Giroir, MD, U.S. Public Health Service, Assistant Secretary for Health stated that there was no evidence or science supporting the type of categorical lockdown in states like California, particularly bans on outdoor dining. Of course, the renowned Dr Faucet (Fauci) has weighed in, supporting the dining ban in California. Never mind that Dr. Giroir is a widely respected public health expert who has reenforced a calm and science-based approach to the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
With the growing, near hysterical media reports about increasing cases and death count, no one has yet revealed the demographic of the those most affected. Is it the elderly with underlying morbidities, minorities, the homeless living in filth on the streets? How in the world can the problem be successfully addressed if the nincompoop leaders operate on a one order fits all basis?
The pharmaceutical industry has developed several vaccines for the pandemic and certainly the most vulnerable will be treated first. Unfortunately, Dr. Faucet (Fauci) remains Grinch-like as he states that we will have to wait until the second half of 2021 for significant results. How does he know? No one else has offered that scenario. Sometimes he’d be better off with his mouth was taped shut.
The Nation needs to open up, utilizing a healthy dose of common sense. Mental health issues that result from a cooped-up population continue to be unreported. Shutdowns of outdoor activities like dining, playgrounds or even walking, as Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti advocated, will not solve the spread. Nor will cancelling the Christmas holidays as some advocate.
The way out of this viral pandemic is the use of therapeutics and vaccines, not the trampling of basic rights, shutdowns, by overzealous, ignorant politicians.
