Being Beto
There’s a political guy running around Texas, Robert Francis O’Rourke, who’s had more positions on issues than you’d find in the Kama Sutra. When he was a presidential candidate after two uninspiring terms as a congressman from El Paso, he declared that he was going to ban all AR-15s. After his spectacular crash in the presidential primaries, he modified his position for his next shot at office.
When he ran for Senate in Texas he equivocated again. He lost. Earlier this year, as the Democratic candidate for Governor, he said Texans could keep their AR-15s. Now considering the Uvalde school massacre he’s back to seizure as his solution to gun violence.
Of course Robert is entitled to his position, beliefs, and interpretation of the Second amendment but stick to one…Beto. (That’s his preferred first name, the Spanish nickname for Roberto.) It’s cultural appropriation, that’s when a politician adopts an element of a culture for a gain in votes. Robert started his career as “Beto” in Hispanic majority El Paso. He’s a fourth generation Irish American.
Here’s the point. Voters are starting to wake up to the cynical acts of lifelong politicians to acquire power. Changing positions, alignment or saying a few broken lines in Spanish during stump speeches for the sake of achieving elected office is being exposed daily by a sagacious electorate. No thanks to the media.
This hypocrisy is found throughout the Nation as primary season and the midterm elections loom in November. It is epidemic as Democrats, nervous as a cat in a litter box, attempt to cover their butts. With the national economy in the commode, no need to look further than the current Regime to observe the excuse making.
Gene Sperling, the American Rescue Plan Coordinator and Senior Advisor to Biden, spoke Tuesday about the economic mess in the United States. Americans were able to observe his nose growing as he blamed the inflation rate and high gas prices on Putin, Republican intransigence, the global supply chain crisis, and the tooth fairy.
Gene further stated that Biden has a world class cadre of economic advisors helping him the solve the current economic crises. Who are they? He even had the temerity to defend Tuesday’s lame Wall Street Journal editorial piece about the current fiscal predicament, allegedly authored by the President. Joe opined that he was well on his way to solving the economic malaise but offered no solutions…just the usual build back better BS (Beto Speak). Nothing about increasing domestic oil production, spending cuts, or decreasing the money supply. Who really wrote this editorial?
The line of malarky coming from politicians doesn’t serve the Nation well. The country has some serious problems and obfuscation of those problems is not useful. For example, rather than address the problem of mental illness that was evident in the recent mass shootings, the pivot is to an inanimate object, the gun. There is no rational basis for this, as evil disturbed humans operate the trigger.
A hammer, a chainsaw, or a knife are equally dangerous in the wrong hands. The California State Senate voted to repeal the requirement that schools report students who make violent threats to teachers and school workers…a few days after the Uvalde massacre. The bill is supported by the ACLU. Hopefully the Governor won’t sign it.
More BS (Beto Speak) is fed to the populace regarding high fuel prices. A gallon of gasoline is at record high…some stations in California are over $8.00 a gallon. The Biden Regime has trotted out several “experts” who have more reasons for this than are imaginable. The cold hard facts are simple. The progressive climate change loons are the real policy makers. During the previous administration the Nation was producing over 15 billion barrels a day. Now because of executive orders signed by a man who hasn’t filled his own gas tank in at least 50 years, the nation is at 12 million barrels a day…barely. Putin is no more responsible for high gas prices than he would be for the slaughter of innocents in Texas. Given the wealth of oil resources in America, the stupidity of the current Regime’s energy policy is breathtaking. Doesn’t take a genius to figure out why folks are going broke at the gas pump.
A guy running for Mayor in Los Angeles has a commercial that states that he will protect the immigrant community from Donald Trump. Seriously. Someone tell this political “Karen” that Trump is retired and living in Florida. Sadly, just another case of a “Beto”, pandering for votes. Fortunately, he has no chance of winning.
Might be a good idea if we had politicians who were honest problem solvers instead of wokeristas bent on catering to an agenda that doesn’t fit the real national needs. No more grandstanding about climate change and using tragedies to advance their shameless quest for power.
If that were the case, Beto might start using his real name on the ballot.
