Bernie and Zohran

The recent elections have resulted in an increased focus on a couple of radical socialists, one old and one relatively young. Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt) and Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani (DS-NY) are two peas in a pod.  These guys have much in common aside from the huge gap in age, Bernie is 84 and Zohran is 34. Neither one of them has ever had a significant job in the private sector.

Bernie has spent most of his adult life at the public trough after dabbling in carpentry, writing and filmmaking while living in rural Vermont. He discovered the government feedbag when he was elected Mayor of Burlington in 1981. He was elected to the House in 1991 and the Senate in 2007. As a result of his government service Bernie has become a millionaire with three homes including a luxurious shoreline Dacha on Lake Champlain. On his recent “Fighting Oligarchy” tour he traveled to rallies with Rep. Sandy Cortez (D-NY) on private jets. As a Democrat Socialist (Communist), Bernie lives large…so does Putin.

Zohran discovered the benefits of government service in his twenties like Bernie did. He was born in Kampala, Uganda. His family moved to New York when he was seven. Mamdani’s immediate family are wealthy Indian Muslims, his father an academician and mother a filmmaker. Records indicate that they are loaded financially. He has admitted that he grew up in a privileged environment, never wanting for anything. After graduating from exclusive Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, with a degree in African Studies he worked as housing counselor and nascent rap artist. Neither careers worked out and he entered New York City politics as a campaign operative. That led him to becoming a New York State Assemblymen in 2020.

So, what’s the commonality of these two well off “Democratic Socialists” (Communists)? Their political ideology is simpatico as both identify as Democratic Socialists. Senator Bernie Sanders has become a significant mentor who has endorsed and campaigned for Mamdani in his political campaigns. They have appeared at rallies and town halls together arms raised, holding their hands above their heads in solidarity.

They both focus on issues of income and wealth inequality, fighting what they describe as "oligarchy" and the power of the wealthy elite. This is especially rich since the two of them live better than the vast majority of American citizens. Hypocrisy on steroids.

Bernie and Zohran are remarkably similar as politicians. Both have built strong, grassroots movements and emphasized working-class support in their campaigns. Promising to deliver all manner of services for free to the working-class by increased taxation of the wealthy, is the bedrock of their collective messaging.

Neither one of them is bright enough to figure out that the capitalists are the job creators for the working-class.  Nope, these two loons believe that the government should control the means of production, the economy and health care. The government will give you the “American Dream”. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The Chinese Communists are in control of that nation’s industrial production and are scrambling because of Trump’s tariff policy and the increasing American move to manufacturing self-sufficiency. Abundent proof that a government is incapable of being entrepreneurial.

The Russian economy is tightly controlled by Putin and yet the balance of Russian citizens live in a constant state of need for the most basic of consumer goods. Vlad’s war against Ukraine has accelerated the economic disaster building in the old Soviet Union.

In Canada the government runs health care. It doesn’t work, that’s why Canadians travel to the United States for needed surgeries. Health care does need reformation in the United States, especially Obamacare which has driven costs up nearly 100% since its passage. This is a case where the private sector and government work together to reduce cost.  It’s already starting with the cost of prescription medicine.

Bernie and Zohran’s political beliefs or policies do not offer solutions for any social class. Their lack of trust in a free-market economy is rooted in their failure to ever be involved in the private sector as an employee or entrepreneur. The problem is educating Americans about the fallacies of their Marxists ideals.

This is the real grassroot movement that needs to take place, starting with the national public school’s education curriculum. Teaching the basic economic impact of Socialism, Communism and Marxism versus the benefits of a free-market society on citizens, is absolutely essential so future voters can make informed decisions. Once upon a time that was taught in high school and college. Today’s Gen X-ers and Gen Z-ers are painfully ignorant of the long-term effects of these forms of repressive governments and were not taught how to achieve the American Dream in a capitalist-based society.

When the population is given a window on the faults of living in country that practices “Democratic Socialism”, folks will wise up. That window should be opened by the legacy media…but it won’t be.

Unfortunately, Bernie and Zohran will never wise up, but Americans need to.
