No masks – No Whining

An enlightened federal judge in Florida issued a ruling that the mask mandate for those using public transportation was, in so many words, an overreach by the CDC and the government.  Therefore, masks are no longer mandatory for those using public transportation.  Video immediately surfaced on social media of airline passengers cheering the lifting of this ineffective requirement to look like a bank robber while flying.

Then the whining started. The usual liberal, progressive elites who read the scripts for the major mainstream broadcast media decried the ruling as ill advised and dangerous to the Nation.  The caterwauling could be heard, even in the remotest towns in America. To listen to these folks, you would think that the second coming of the bubonic plague was upon us.  What a bunch of unadulterated hooey.

Makes one wonder if any logic or clear thinking was ever resident in their gray matter. If they are so terrified of maskless fellow citizens, then they might consider continued wearing of their own face diaper.  In fact, for extra safety, wear two.  If they are masked up, what do they have to fear from the unmasked?

When the pandemic started two years ago, there was no vaccine, no antiviral drugs, or other monoclonal antibodies.  Caution was very much welcomed by the population. Since then, a lot of progress has been made in the treatment and management of the virus. Many Americans are vaccinated, which in most cases mitigates the serious effects of the disease. There’s not a lot of credit given to the notion that masking up the Nation slowed down the spread of the disease. Naturally, in certain situations, a mask was useful but not the solution.

Meanwhile, at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll Monday, the President of the United States was being minded by a large rabbit. The bunny was there to ensure that Joe didn’t answer any press questions and stuck to his meet/greet duties.  Turns out that the staffer in the bunny suit was none other than White House press official Meghan Hays. As director of message planning, she is responsible for limiting press access to Joe during public events.  So, there was no chance that the Nation was going to hear his opinion with respect to the judge’s ruling.

Then on Tuesday Joe was asked, at the airport in Portsmouth, New Hampshire about the ruling. When questioned if folks should continue to wear masks on airplanes he replied, “That’s up to them.” The large rabbit was nowhere to be seen when he answered.  Figures, because later in the day the Department of Justice announced that it was appealing Federal Judge Kathryn Mizelle’s decision.  Once again Joe wasn’t on message. Blame the rabbit.

This whole kerfuffle about masks, masks the real issue, who’s running the Nation?  Do we have a President who can make decisions or is he relying on staffers to navigate the ship of state? Half the time the President shows up with a mask, and then later he appears at events with no mask.  Is it cognitive failure or is he getting mixed messaging from the “staff”? Troublesome to say the least.

World events are such that United States needs a President who is a full time, a hands-on leader. The country doesn’t need someone in a rabbit costume herding him, or unknown “staffers” calling the shots.  Those who voted for Joe certainly didn’t expect that this would be how he exercised his leadership function. Those who voted for the other guy are equally distressed at the rudderless nature of this regime.

The pandemic brought about an unprecedented loss of personal freedom. The restrictions imposed on the population has been well documented.  Enlightened leaders in some states quickly adjusted and removed them based on common sense.  In other states emergency authorizations are still in effect as those governors seem reluctant to give up their power.

It seems that’s the case with elements of the Federal government who are unwilling to let Judge Mizelle’s ruling stand. The “science” does not support the necessity of masks on airplanes given that the installed HEPA filters cleanse the air rapidly.  Studies have shown that the rapid air circulation in aircraft reduces the Covid-19 infection rate by 99.7%.

If folks are still in doubt about mask status, one thing is certain…the rabbit wasn’t wearing a one at the White House Easter Egg Roll and that speaks volumes.
