Pork & Border Chaos
If there’s one thing that’s abundantly clear, the leftist regime that the Biden Administration has become, is out of control. The Covid Relief Bill, as labeled, masquerades as relief for the pandemic, but in reality, is the largest handout to unions, distressed democratic states and slackers in the fiscal history of the Nation. Concurrent with this spending insanity is the chaos along the southern border, thanks to Biden’s executive orders that reverse and violate laws governing the legal immigration process.
First the Covid Relief Bill; enough Pork in it to keep Farmer John making bacon for a thousand years. The biggest beneficiaries of this largess are the states run by Democrats who have managed to dig debt holes that could reach China. California and New York have the highest state income taxes in the country, yet find themselves with underfunded pension funds, with major cities deeply in debt and crumbling infrastructure. San Francisco will get $650 million to wipe out the current deficit. Wonder if that will also wipe the streets of the human feces and house the homeless? Doubtful. Speaker Pelosi takes care of her hometown.
New York is no better off. Lost in the scandal surrounding the now revealed lascivious activities of “Randy Andy” Cuomo, is the financial mess he has created in nearly 12 years of governance. Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s stewardship of New York City hasn’t been a model of enlightened, economic leadership. $100 billion in aid will go to New York for the state government, education, the MTA; and of that, only $4 billion in funds will go to vaccines, testing, etc. Pandemic relief? Hardly.
Scrutiny of this boondoggle spending bill by the media won’t happen anytime soon. This further creates an unjustifiable addition to the national debt. Relief for those who have suffered actual provable loses, like employment and business failure, is reasonable but not to the point where the incentive to return to work or seek employment is disingenuous. The obvious goal of this bill isn’t Covid relief. It seems to increase and solidify the role of government as the sponsor of every American’s income unlinked to any compulsion to work. This is the beginning of the “nanny” state.
Then there’s the fiasco at the southern border. Just today while the President was doing a photo op in a hardware store, the traveling press had the temerity to shout a question at Joe. “Is there a crisis at the border Mr. President?” Once again Biden’s inaugural pledge of transparency was violated, he didn’t respond, and his handlers moved him out of the area. Does he know what’s going on? Does he care? He didn’t answer, that’s troubling.
If the national media would deign to provide some honest reportage about this illegal invasion, the scope would be shocking to all Americans. For starters the overwhelmed Border Patrol agents have been ordered to reinstate the “Catch and Release” policy that was the Obama Administrations. Except this time the released are pandemic infected, then put on buses, only after promising to return for an immigration hearing. Sure, they will. Our country is fighting to rid itself of a pandemic, and yet letting infected illegals in. That’s beyond insane, it’s irresponsible.
Who’s paying for the hundreds of T-shirts these illegals are wearing that have stenciled on the front, “Biden - Please Let Us In”? Certainly, they didn’t pay for them. Who is shipping the illegal children coming in droves? Reports are that drug cartels are the prime operators of this profitable smuggling enterprise. Further, it’s been discovered that 800 convicted criminals have made it into the country as well.
The Nation has a government where spending and a border are out of control. Meanwhile the newly elected President appears to have returned to his pre-election basement strategy, surfacing only in carefully scripted events to opine, aided by a teleprompter.
These two developments plus the President’s intransigence, are recipes for disaster if they continued unchecked.
