The Double Standard Republic
In the 1960’s, a TV sitcom Hogan’s Heroes, set in a German World War II POW camp featured a character, Sergeant Hans Schultz a Luftwaffe camp guard. He was constantly encountering evidence that the inmates of his stalag were planning mayhem. He frequently feigned ignorance with the catchphrase, "I see nothing! I hear nothing! I know nothing!"
In Wednesday’s White House press briefing, Karine Jean-Pierre who replaced “Circle Back” Psaki as the press spokesperson, channeled her inner Sergeant Schultz when quizzed by the press about the raid on Trumps Mar-a-Lago home by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Persistent questions by even the normally compliant scribes about this raid that would have made the old Russian KBG proud, caused Ms. Jean-Pierre to repeatedly tell the reporters to ask the DOJ or the FBI. “I’m not going to comment further from here” or “I’m not going to speak to that from here.” She could have easily replaced those stock responses with "I see nothing! I hear nothing! I know nothing!" What a bunch of “Bullschiff”.
The double standard is alive and well, demonstrated by the (FBI)I raid conducted on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. When Hillary Clinton had an illegal email server in her Chappaqua home, did the FBI storm in and seize it? Nope. Anyone who believes the Regime was in the dark about this unprecedented abuse of power by the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ) is incredibly naïve. Maybe they’ve been living like a Trappist monk in the wilds of Montana. The only person in the Regime who didn’t know, might have been Joe Biden, because he didn’t read it on his teleprompter.
So many respected legal scholars have opined that this is an over-the-top action with respect to alleged storage of unauthorized presidential paper by the former President. He and his staff had already turned over documents and were negotiating the disposition of the balance. The FBI, once again has done itself proud, emulating the jack booted East German Stassi. Reports are they even rummaged through Melania Trump’s wardrobe closet. That’s the first place law enforcement always looks for confidential material, the wife’s closet. So far, the DOJ and the FBI have refused to clarify what they were after. Alan Dershowitz and Jonathan Turley, two brilliant lawyers, have questioned the tactics and the scope of this raid. Both are wondering what the basis of this invasion of the private home of a former President is.
To get the search warrant the DOJ and the FBI evidently went “judge shopping” and found a former Obama donor, Judge Bruce Reinhart. This piece of work’s resume, details that he previously worked at the U.S. Attorney's office prosecuting crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein. He quit and started a private practice to represent people who worked for Jeffrey Epstein. They were in hot water with the law as accomplices to Epstein’s documented nefarious behavior. That was the best they could do? Only a total ninnyhammer would think that the “fix” wasn’t in.
On CBS this week, Nancy Pelosi stated that “no one is above the law” when questioned about the raid on Mar-a-Lago. This is really rich coming from a woman whose husband is getting kid glove care from the Napa County District Attorney’s office over his DUI arrest. No ordinary citizen would get the treatment like Paul Pelosi is enjoying. The double standard alive and well. Speaker Pelosi was the invisible hand behind two failed Presidential impeachments that were based on hate and suspect evidence. In her mind, husband Paul is above the law, but former President Trump is not.
In an interview on July 26, with Lester Holt of NBC Attorney General Merrick Garland said, “We pursue justice without fear or favor.” Great sentiment Merrick. So noble. So what’s holding up the investigation of Hunter Biden? The verified leaks from his laptop of emails and other disreputable behavior point to a world class money laundering and influence peddling operation. Even Brian Stelter of CNN, a well-known Biden sycophant, has finally conceded that Hunter has some serious legal problems.
The increasingly distinct legal double standard has created a condition where the American public is rapidly losing faith in their government and law enforcement. Major cities across the United States are losing police officers as woke district attorneys apply their progressive interpretation of the law on criminal offenders. Look at the open southern border where immigration laws are not enforced. It is a catastrophe. Drug busts every day and thousands of unskilled, uneducated illegals flooding the Nation. Country can’t afford it. No one has any faith in homeland security. A double standard in the application of immigration law clearly evident.
If in fact charges are brought against Trump, bear in mind that a President has classification authority. He can decide what's classified and what's not. Therefore President Trump, in theory, could have declassified these materials. Of course that won’t be reported in the mainstream media. More double standard in play because it doesn’t fit the hate Trump narrative.
Worse yet is the precedent being set. Today, after 72 hours of sphinxlike silence, AG Garland in a brief statement stated that he approved the 6:30 AM raid. Furthermore he announced that the DOJ had filed a motion to make the warrant and the receipt of what was seized public. He took no questions from the press. If Garland crosses the Rubicon to prosecute a former President on the thinnest of evidence, when the wrongdoing and proof is not concrete, every future President will be a target of rogue investigations fueled by partisan hatred. That is deplorable.
The Nation needs more “Double-Double Burgers” and no Double Standards.
