The Grifters

“What did the president know and when did he know it.” A question that will live in infamy, delivered by Senator Howard Baker during the Watergate matter.  That same question begs an answer with respect to the President’s son Hunter and his nefarious business dealings and salacious behavior. For some time, he has operated like a grifter, one who acquires money or property illicitly, by trading on the family name. There’s a mountain of evidence that Hunter acquired a lot of money and spent it like a drunken sailor (which he was before the US Navy cashiered him).

“I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.” That was Joe’s response to Peter Doocy’s question when it was raised during the 2020 campaign. One can be certain that father and son only discussed sports and great restaurants in Beijing on the 14-hour flight to China when Hunter accompanied his father, the Vice President in 2013. Uh huh. In October 2020, Hunter’s business associate, Tony Bobulinski, verified the revenue flow from various countries and confirmed that Joe was aware his son’s influence peddling and trading on the family name. Seems Tony met Joe at the Beverly Hilton in May 2017 where the former Vice President thanked him for taking care of the family. The meeting is well documented in various emails.

When New York Post columnist Miranda Devine reported the contents of Hunter’s Apple laptop computer in October 2020, found abandoned in a Delaware repair shop, the mainstream media roundly denounced her account as Russian disinformation aimed to harm Joe’s candidacy.  The excoriation was brutal as 50 former intelligence officials weighed in that her reporting was nothing more that spurious nonsense. They took their cues from the “Big Guy” Joe Biden, his nickname on the emails detailing the suspicious business dealings of the son. Subsequently Miranda’s book, Laptop From Hell: Hunter Biden, Big Tech And The Dirty Secrets The President Tried To Hide, has generated a lot of questions that remain unanswered and troubling.

Now 18 months later, with a grand jury investigation closing in on Hunter’s suspected criminal activities, the New York Times followed by the Washington Post, have acknowledged that the data on the laptop is real. Hunter could be on the verge of an indictment.  What an epiphany by these shameless “journalists” and their editorial boards. The only major broadcast network that reported the contents, Fox News, has finally been joined by MSNBC, CNN, CBS, NBC, and ABC reporting possible ethical problems for the President.  Naturally, all these progressive honks, late to the reality, continue to carry water for Joe on this matter whenever possible, hoping they can save him.   They’re going to need a bigger bucket.

Many have opined that the possible corruption involving the Biden family will make the Watergate scandal look like a girl’s tea party.  The mere fact that The New York Times who’s masthead states "All the News That's Fit to Print," has conceded the looming troubles for Joe and the Biden family, is a massive admission of earlier journalistic malfeasance. The Sunday April 3rd Washington Post editorial titled “The Hunter Biden story is an opportunity for a reckoning”, coupled with the Times admission, concluded with the following --

“The lesson learned from 2016 was evidently to err on the side of setting aside questionable material in the heat of a political campaign. The lesson learned from 2020 may well be that there’s also a danger of suppressing accurate and relevant stories.”

Gee whiz, will the Washington Post change it masthead from “Democracy dies in the dark” to “The truth dies in the dark”?  One must be utterly amazed that this newspaper, a champion of the progressive left, has recognized that their endless reports of Russian interference in the 2016 election were bogus? Have they determined that their failure to report the laptop story in October 2020 was dangerous and tipped the election scale in Joe’s favor? Now will they report that the President could be compromised because of the family “business” deals with China, Russia, and a slew of other countries?

The White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain has recently denied that the President has had any involvement in Hunter’s business. Klain is the ultimate swamp dweller who’s record of backroom dealing in DC is well known. His credulity is suspect. The blind obeisance of the media is fading rapidly. The White House Praetorians can only hope that the southern border crises and the Ukrainian war obfuscate the reportage of Hunter’s impending indictment. Nothing to see here…move along, will be their mantra.

Recently the President has operated like he doesn’t know if he’s on foot or horseback. His public statements are constantly being “walked back” by his staff.  Saturday at a Naval christening he referred to his wife as the Vice President when she was working with Michelle Obama. Then Monday, he told the tall tale about his former life as a semi-truck driver. Maybe he doesn’t know if he’s the “Big Guy”?

One thing is certain, if this story was about the Trump family as grifters, the reportage would be non-stop, vicious, and unrelenting.
